1.) Postulates of Hedonism

As stated in the Journal of Happiness Study, Hedonism or in Hedonistic approach,
is primarily focusing on happiness that is defined in the basis of presence or absence of
something - like in the aspect of difficulty. Defining that there is a positive effect on the
person if the particular entity is present, while the opposite manner comes otherwise.
Giving this fact, there was also a low level need for pleasure on the person. Meaning, the
satisfaction for such psychological need can be done immediately and not necessarily
need to be achieved in the long term. Thus; they believe that momentarily pleasure is a
good and the essential substance in a person's life, and that the tremendous intensity of
difficulty is what makes it worse. Another thing is hedonism in terms of its dependency on
something. In Hedonistic view, it's more primarily on material objects, which makes the
person with such view to be compulsive upon demanding it - or obsession can be
observed.

2.) Discuss how well being is viewed through hedonism

One approach on tackling Well-being is hedonism. A more specific interpretation
of hedonistic well-being would however use just the positive and negative affects on the
index happiness, in other terms that a person's life is only just a matter of pleasure and
pains. In hedonistic approach, in order to have a happy form of living is that one must
increase positive pleasures in the index and must decrease those that contradict it, like
pain or intense presence of difficulty. In the study, the researchers used what seemed to
aid better understanding of it, the Standard Social Science Model. That considers that
humans are relatively hollow or empty on the inside. And that in order to fulfill it, it must
be done in accordance on common social and cultural teachings. This approach is based
on the concept of Subjective Well Being, comprising of affective and cognitive
components. Such that, stating that a person would most likely to experience "happiness"
if he or she experience the positive effects and his or her satisfaction on it as well.

3.) Examples of Hedonism

 A person eating too much candies, chocolates, and other sweets. Not knowing the
possible consequences he/she can have out of it; toothache or stomachache.

 Teenagers indulging too much on playing online video games, to the point that
he/she is already neglecting some important parts of his/her life; family bonding,
educational opportunities, as well as creating bonds with friends (in real life)
 A working professional adult, who is also an all out party goer, who doesn't invest
on important things such as insurances and etc., but instead on those "You only
live Once" moments, neglecting priorities.

4.) Postulates of Eudemonia

Eudemonia or in the tradition of Eudaimonic approach, the focus is on the living
the life in a full and deeply satisfying way a person can have. This second approach
considers that it is much more than just happiness, but with the sense of fulfillment or
accomplishment on something that cannot be easily fulfilled immediately. Implying that a
person is living well, or being in a state of great happiness if he or she actually fulfills his
or her potentials in life. Resulting that, more often individuals in this kind of approach
tends to have high level of satisfactory needs. The individual would most likely ascribe
contents of human nature and ways to uncover it. Also in the presence of intense difficulty,
tendency is that the person would just understand the present situation he or she is in,
rather than being overwhelmed with the intense situation. Also it was stated in the journal
that, a person experiencing eudaimonic living means that, he or she will necessarily also
experience hedonic enjoyment.

5.) Discuss how well being is viewed through Eudaimonia

Comparing the approach between the two; Hedonistic approach tends to be more
on subjective view (SWB) while Eudaimonia on Objective view, which means a person
have a good sense of well being regardless of the state he or she is in. Well-being in the
viewpoint of Eudaimonia can also be related to the theory of needs/ hierarchy of Abraham
Maslow. On one side, the view point of Hedonistic approach, state of happiness can
already be present by the satisfaction of psychological needs; other words can be
immediately fulfilled. While on Eudaimonistic approach, happiness on individual can only
be defined once he or she reached the apex of needs; self-actualization, which said to
give accordance to the virtue in pursuit of human excellence and knowing thus;
Eudaimonia. In the Journal, on the other hand, researchers associates people's
narratives with Eudaimonistic approach, stating those people whose narratives are rich
in intrinsic goals, personal growth, and finding purpose in life, tend to display
psychological well being, as the indicator of Eudaimonia. Another is the concept of
Autonomy, which Aristotle emphasize the thought of choosing and making the right
choices, which results from choosing to act virtuously which is also being volitionally
virtuous. Lastly in this approach, living well mostly involves those promoting autonomous
regulation and mindful engagement, which are the conditions that promote eudaimonia
