1 SCOPE
This procedure covers requirement for Hydrostatic test pressure vessel of Sand
Filter A/B (4112-A/B) and Softener A/B (4115-A/B) for Water Treatment
Package System 4, Feni Haltim Projects.

2 APPLICABLE ITEM
• SAND FILTER A/B (4112-A/B)
• SOFTENER A/B (4115-A/B)

3 TEST PRESSURE
• SAND FILTER A/B (4112-A/B)
- Design Pressure = 5 Bar
- ASME Sec VIII. Div.1, Hydrostatic Pressure = 1.5 Design Pressure
- Test Pressure = 1.5 x Bbar = 7.5 Bar

• SOFTENER A/B (4115-A/B)

- Design Pressure = 5 Bar
- ASME Sec VIII. Div.1, Hydrostatic Pressure = 1.5 Design Pressure
- Test Pressure = 1.5 x Bbar = 7.5 Bar

4 PREPARATION
 Pressure gauge with range 1.5 to 4 time test pressure
 Water accepted for test
 Water pump
 Pressure Gauge
 Valve, hose, etc.

5 SURFACE PREPARATION
Prior to filling water, equipment are to be thoroughly cleaned from all loose material dirt,
weld spatters, oil, grease and flux at inside and outside

6 APPLICATION
a) Fill system with test liquid gradually,

b) Once the system has been filled, increase pressure gradually (30% for, 75%, then
100% of pressure test),

c) Hydrostatic test Sand Filter A/B & Softener A/B will be carried out at
low pressure (7.5 bar).

e) After reaching the test pressure hold for 60 minutes (Manufacture standart) or for a
period of time required to examine all joints and seals for leaks.

f) After success of testing, pressure is reduced gradually to zero and water is to be

completely removed.

g) When leakage is occurred during the testing:

 Evaluated leakage
 If leakage from a less tight bolt, tighten bolts until there is no
recommend
 If leakage from welding line or base material Washing and drying pipe,
marking the leak section and repair accordance with the welding procedure
approval.

7 SAFETY
All Safety precaution shall be taken during Hydrostatic test.

8 ACCEPTANCE STANDARD
a. No permanent distortion

b. No leakage during at the test pressure and any distortion or permanent visible
damage. Except for leakage that might occur at temporary test closures. This leakage
shall be directly away from the item being tested. For welded connection, leakage is not
allowed at the time required visual inspection.
