Phone: 1-(860)-489-4137 Pastor: Rev. Daniel Bossidy November 2010 Dear Friend, Greetings on this beautiful fall day from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Torrington, CT. The Thanksgiving holiday is a great time to reflect on the things we are most thankful for. A thankful heart brings so many good things to us because I have found that the Lord continually pours His blessings on those who recognize the blessings they have. My gratitude to God isn’t limited to the things I have but the people who are in my life! I am especially thankful that the Lord Jesus is in my life. He has brought countless helps and guidance throughout the years. The Bible says His thoughts towards you and me are more than the sand by the sea-shore! There was an account in the Bible that shows us the power of a thankful heart. It is in Luke 17: 11-19. There were 10 lepers that stood afar off from where the Lord was traveling. The Bible says they lifted up their voices and called to Jesus as He was passing by their way, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” Leprosy was a disease of that day that separated families and communities because it was very contagious and there was no cure for it. We could liken anything that divides families and people as leprous. God never caused this dreaded ailment, but thank God Jesus came to cleanse us from it! Jesus answered them simply, “Go shew yourselves unto the priests.” This simple statement said a lot to these men because by going to the priests the Bible tells us they can declare them to be healed and accepted back into society. They did exactly what the Lord told them to. They didn’t question it: they simply responded. But something happened to them when they obeyed. “And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.” Oh, what a joyous occasion! A miracle had taken place! The impossible actually happened and they were cleansed, all because they obeyed the Lord! For one man, he had to turn around and thank the Lord for this miracle. Verse 15 says, “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.” In those days a Samaritan was looked down upon in religious circles because his people were a mixed bag of Judaism and paganism. They worshipped differently than the Jewish people, including pagan holidays and feasts in their religion along with prayers to Jehovah God. But this man was grateful for what the Lord did for him. He gave thanks to Jesus, and the Lord said, “Were there not ten cleansed?” (Yes, Jesus looks for people to be thankful for the blessings He gives!) “But where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.” You may be a stranger to thanking God for your blessings, but the Lord accepts our thankful hearts and pays attention to how we handle our situations! “And He said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” He likened thankfulness to faith. The Bible tells us without faith it is impossible to please God. So faith is closely linked to being thankful. A thankful heart draws Gods blessings and approval to us in ways we will never know. Did you ever meet someone who seems to walk in blessings all the time? Even when bad things happen, they just seem to have heaven shining down on them. When trouble knocks on their door, or when they make a mess of things, they just seem to arise from the ashes so quickly and excel. Chances are, that person is very thankful to God for His mighty working power in their lives. You will probably see that person as grateful for every blessing that comes their way. That person is thankful for their sisters and brothers, their families and churches, their jobs, their homes and everything that is in their lives. The Bible says, “The blessing of the Lord: it maketh rich and He addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). Do you want to be rich? I have one simple step for you to take, one that is within everyone’s grasp: be thankful! That’s it! Thankfulness will bring prosperity and health and well-being to you! I can do that, and you can do that. It’s simple but not always so easy. Thank God for that sister of yours and God will bless you! Thank God for that neighbor of yours and God will bless you! Thank God in that situation that is hindering you and He will begin to work on your behalf to change things! I have found that to be true in my life and I know He will bless you, too! May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving, from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church. Please remember that we are praying for you!
Sincerely,
Rev. Daniel Bossidy
