LESSON PLAN

Week: 2 Date: March 9th Teacher: Duvan Rojas Course: English A1


Hour: 1-3 Number of Students: 5-6
Objectives: The students would be able to fill in a simple form asking for names, occupations and maybe age or other info in
a very basic way.

Communicative (Function):
• To be able to greet and say goodbye to anybody in a formal and informal way
• To spell names and any word
• To introduce him/herself with names and occupations
• To identify main differences and usage of definite and indefinite articles

Language (structure):
• The student would know how to use basic affirmative and negative statements for verb to be to introduce someone

Vocabulary: How are you doing? / How is everything going? / What´s up? / What’s new / How are you today? / Are you ok? /
Hello / Hi / Good morning / Good afternoon / Good night / Bye / Bye bye / Goodbye / See you / Talk to you later / How do you
spell? / May you spell your name? / May you spell your last name? / Nice to meet you / This is (name) / That is (name) / He is
(name) / She is (name)

Warm up Skill: Spoken, written


The teacher is going to start greeting everybody in the classroom by shaking hands hoping that
they all greet him/her back as they are supposed to know greeting from previous class, but this is Material: Board,
going to be a short review of them. He/she is going to greet everybody shaking hands and markers
introducing him/herself saying basic personal info like: name, profession, spoken languages, Type of interaction:
hobbies, etc. Teachers to students,
Finally, he/she will make all students stand up and start giving their names to at least 3 other and students to
peers and they use greetings. Meanwhile teacher can do the same while he/she checks students
attendance.

Activity 1 Skill: Spoken and written


Material: Flashcards ,
The teacher is going to present the most common occupations to the class using adhesive tape
a power point presentation or printing the professions for the students (see link Type of interaction St to
1). He/she will also make the students complete the previous introductions st and to teachers
they’re doing on the warm up by saying their professions or what they would like
to become. Time: 45 minutes

The students are going to have some flashcards with adhesive tape in the back
to paste them on their foreheads, each card will contain pictures of famous
people so they can guess who the person is by asking questions formed with
verb to be like: who is this? Who is she? What’s his/her profession or
occupation? (see link 2 with recommended characters, it’s up to teacher which
ones, and how many).

Activity 2 Skill: Spoken and written


The teacher is going to present the alphabet to practice pronunciation (link 1 can be used, it has Material: dictionary,
audio) notebooks

Then there would be a spelling context of about 20 minutes in which all participants are going to st
search on the dictionary/cellphone at least 15 words, it doesn’t matter which ones. And the group Time: 30 minutes
may be divided into 2 so the team that spells the words faster wins maybe some points for the
final grade.

Activity 3 Skill : Written


The teacher will present the articles and its usage using the occupations they previously learned, Material:
indicating at the same time which are used with common or proper nouns. Workshop sheets,
pencils, board , markers
Then the students will complete the following written activity individually to verify the understood Type of interaction: St to
the topic and they can apply it in the future: teachers

Teachers can use one or all the links they consider necessary to develop the class in order to use
different amount of exercises.

Teachers would be ready to solve any doubts and to help students accordingly to how the class is
being developed. Finally he/she can make students switch workshop sheets with other students in
order to check if the answers are correct or nor.

Activity 4 Skill
Students will need look for the verbs that pair with each occupation, make a list and
make simple sentences with teachers help. As it is a beginner’s class, you will want to Material:
keep it to third person singular, for example: “A teacher teaches”. They will write
everything down and if there is enough time they could share it for the whole class. Type of interaction:
