Executive Summary

The study aimed to find out what are the major problems that affects the
fluency of students in speaking English, it was conducted in Don Jose
Ynares Sr Memorial National High School in Brgy. San Carlos Binangonan,
Rizal during the academic year 2017-2018 the respondents were (25)
selected Grade 9 Students.

Our objective in this research was to explore the factors affecting the
Grade 9 students in Don Jose Ynares Memorial National High School in
English listening and speaking 25 Grade 9 Students were survey. Our
survey have three factors (students , teacher, and their environment)and
based on our survey the teachers factors are the most factors that
affecting the students is when the teachers allowed the students to
speak Tagalog in their time the other teacher factors are teacher fluency.

Introduction

Why are the new generation of the Philippines getting fool in English
language? This research help you to recognize if this question is true.

The Philippines is recognized globally as one of the largest English-


speaking nations, with the majority of its population having at least some
degree of fluency in the language. English has always been one of the
country’s official languages, and is spoken by more than 14 million
Filipinos. This is also the primary medium of instruction in education.
Proficiency in the language is also one of the Philippines’ strengths, which
has helped drive the economy and even made it the top voice outsourcing
destination in the world,

Based on the new survey, the Philippines is now 7th place that was 1st
place on the most skillful country in English language, so we conducted a
research on selected grade 9 student at Don Jose Ynares Sr. Memorial
National High school(DJYMNHS SY:2017-2018).

The objective of this research is to find out what are the major problems
that affects the fluency of students in speaking English, some of the
factors that affecting students are The Tagalog language is more efficient
in explaining than English language, The Tagalog language is the mother
tongue and so on.

This research also want to prove what is the value of English language
here are some basis the English is important on us;

1st..English is the most useful language.

2nd..If you go to other Country you will know how to communicate with
them.

3rd..If you know how to speak English you may get a decent job.

As we go farther in this topic you'll find out why this research is important
to the researcher.
Methods/procedure

1st. We made a check list of factors that are affecting student in speaking
English. - as a procedure we do first as a group the brain storming getting
the opinion of each member regarding to this research glad to say that we
made a three phrase or factors, The student factor, the teachers factor
and the environmental factor, each factor we made a three phrase or
factor that may be the major reason why the student speaking Tagalog
during English time.

2nd.Subject of the study - as a subject of our Research we ask they


opinions regarding to why they cannot speak English is because some of
them said that Tagalog language is more efficient way in explaining that's
why they cannot speak straight English Some students say that because
of lack of focus that they cannot speak English Language and some said
that they are afraid of getting bullied because of wrong English grammar
that's why they lose confidence in speaking English.

3rd.We get 25 respondents in Different Sections - 9-Bright to 9 Indigo in


Don Jose Ynares Memorial National High School. We manage to do it by
giving a survey papers on the respondents. They answer it with full
respect and honesty. Most of the respondent's answer were the same
giving us the real answers why the Filipino people are either good or bad
at speaking in English. Teachers need to improve something else in their
teaching skills in their class. It will help the students to understand the
English language more. Identification and explaining the each heavy
words in a sentence is very important in English Subject. Deep words are
needed to understand more because it has different meanings.

4th. Statistical data - Concerning the first research question, the result of
descriptive analysis shows that the overall mean score of English
language attitude among the participants is 40.0382 (SD = 4.5899). This
result reveals that the participants have a positive attitude toward
learning English. Moreover, the mean scores of the three aspects of
attitudes toward English among the respondents differ. As seen in Table 1,
the mean score of BAA is 37.1818 (SD = 4.74467),
that of the CAA is 40.6842 (SD = 4.30829) and the mean score of
responses regarding the Emotional Aspect of Attitude (EAA) is 42.2488
(SD = 4.71693).

Result/conclusion

As a result of our research the researcher found out what is the most
common problem of the students in speaking English, most of them
answered that teachers allowed students to speak Tagalog even the
subject is English but some of them answered that factors affecting them
is Tagalog language is more efficient in explaining, because the sentence
they were trying to explain is more explainable if the language their using
is Tagalog.

This research help the researcher realized that most of the students
having problem in English is because of these factor,

Factor that may cause the next generation getting fool in speaking
English language skill and hard to them to be a competitive Filipino
worker someday.

Base on the analysis of the gathered data and for the summary of
findings, the researcher conclude the following.

•The researcher conducted a research can introduce a new way


communication between the teachers and the students to enhance their
skill in speaking English

•English can be use by the students and communication to the


administration or teachers

•This research will also serve as average between students faculty


administration gap to their teachers it also will be comfortable for us to
deal and to seek advice to their teachers.

*This research will also know the weaknesses of the students why they
fail at English class and to boost the student’s confidence speaking in
English.
