Case Study Competition

Overview
Case study is one of the competition held by INCEPTION 2019. This
Competition is expected to improve participants' knowledge and their
perspective in order to find solution for a specific problem. The participants will
overcome an issue that related to energy by analyzing the problem, developing
strategy, and team work. The participants will be asked to present their solution for
the case given. The topics of the cases are related to the main theme, which is takes
theme “Actualize the production of 1 million barrels of oil per day in Indonesia”. Now Indonesia has
several places that produce oil and gas. Based on Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Resources, Indonesia have 15 producing basins, 10 drilled basins but not discovered
yet, 8 drilled and proven discovery but not producing yet, and 10 frontier basins.
Another data, there are 22 un-drilled basins and 38 drilled basins with 23 discovery.
If based on the area, there are 11 areas of oil and gas fields comprise North
Sumatera, Natuna islands, Central Sumatera, South Sumatera, West Java, Central
Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Papua
province. If all areas above are sum up, the production rate is only producing nearly
800 thousand barrels per day, while the consumption rate is above 1 million barrels
per day. Indonesia will keep importing the petroleum to balance the consumption
rate and it takes high cost. This fact shows that exploration in Indonesia has not
been carried out in a good way. However, Indonesia is targeting oil production of 1
million barrels per day by 2022. Therefore, the exploration in Indonesia is needed
to be managed well soon to achieve energy stability in Indonesia.

Seminar

Overview
GRAND SEMINAR is an open seminar to academics and professionals general in
the field of oil & gas. This event is a part of 2019 Inception Event Series. The
seminar will talk about “Opposing Energy Demand through Enhanced Oil and Gas
Recovery”. According to data taken from SKK Migas, recorded that the amount of
lifting (oil and gas) until the end of the first semester of 2019 reached 1.81 million
barrels per day. This amount is equivalent to only 86 percent of the 2019 State
Budget (APBN) target. Most of the fields in Indonesia were in a phase of
decreasing in natural production. In fact, the average decline is 15 to 20 percent.
Nowadays, demand for energy is increasing exponentially, while the production
capability is decreasing. By presenting an inspiring speaker who is an expert in
related fields, could give more insight regarding this case.
