Meat Thermometer

A meat thermometer or cooking thermometer is a thermometer used to measure the internal


temperature of meat, especially roasts and steaks, and other cooked foods.

Timer

A timer is a specialized type of clock used for measuring specific time intervals.


Whisk

A whisk is a cooking utensil which can be used to blend ingredients smooth or to incorporate air


into a mixture, in a process known as whisking
 or whipping. Most whisks consist of a long, narrow handle with a series of wire loops joined at the
end. The wires are usually metal, but some are plastic for use with nonstick cookware.

Spatula

A spatula is a hand-held tool that is used for lifting, flipping, or spreading. Spatulas have a handle
that is long enough to keep the holder's hand away from what is being lifted or spread, as well as
away from a hot surface.
Garlic Press

A handheld device for crushing cloves of garlic.

Tongs

Tongs are a type of tool used to grip and lift objects instead of holding them directly with hands.
There are many forms of tongs adapted to their specific use.
Sharpeners

Knife sharpening is the process of making a knife or similar tool sharp by grinding against a hard,


rough surface, typically a stone, or a flexible surface with hard particles, such as sandpaper.
Additionally, a leather razor strop, or strop, is often used to straighten and polish an edge.

Chef's Knife

In cooking, a chef's knife, also known as a cook's knife, is a cutting tool used in food preparation.
The chef's knife was originally designed primarily to slice and disjoint large cuts of beef. Today it
is the primary general-utility knife for most western cooks.
Peeler

A peeler (vegetable scraper) is a kitchen tool consisting of a slotted metal blade attached to a


handle that is used to remove the outer layer, informally dubbed the "skin", of certain vegetables,
often broccoli stalks, carrot roots, and potatoes, and sometimes fruits such as apples, pears, etc.
A paring knife may also be used to peel vegetables.

Pan

a container made of metal and used for cooking food in.


Oven

An oven is a thermally insulated chamber used for the heating, baking, or drying of a


substance,and most commonly used for cooking. Kilns and furnaces are special-purpose ovens
used in pottery and metalworking, respectively.

Meat mallet

A meat tenderizer, meat mallet, or meat pounder is a hand-powered tool used to tenderize slabs


of meat in preparation for cooking. Although a meat tenderizer can be made out of virtually any
object, there are three types manufactured specifically for tenderizing meat.
Grater

A grater, also known as a shredder is a kitchen utensil used to grate foods into fine pieces. It was
invented by François Boullier in the 1540s, originally to grate cheese.

Colander

A colander (or cullender) is a kitchen utensil used to strain foods such as pasta or rice or to rinse
vegetables. The perforated nature of the colanderallows liquid to drain through while retaining
the solids inside. It is sometimes also called a pasta strainer or kitchen sieve.
Ladle

A large long-handled spoon with a cup-shaped bowl, used for serving soup, stew, or sauce.

Blender

A person or thing that mixes things together, in particular an electric mixing machine used in
food preparation for liquefying, chopping, or pureeing.
Measuring spoon

A measuring spoon is a spoon used to measure an amount of an ingredient, either liquid or dry,
when cooking. Measuring spoons may be made of plastic, metal, and other materials.

Measuring cups

A measuring cup or measuring jug is a kitchen utensil used primarily to measure the volume of


liquid or bulk solid cooking ingredients such as flour and sugar, especially for volumes from about
50 mL (2 fl oz) upwards.
Sauté pan

A sauté pan is the one that has straight sides. It has a larger surface area, which makes it ideal for
tasks like searing meat or reducing a pan sauce.

Sauce pan

A deep cooking pan, typically round, made of metal, and with one long handle and a lid.
Potato masher

A potato masher, bean masher, pea masher or crusher is a food preparation utensil used to crush


soft food for such dishes as mashed potatoes, apple sauce or refried beans.

Mixing bowl

A mixing bowl is a bowl used for mixing of ingredients.


Kitchen Shears

Kitchen Shears are specially-designed scissors for the kitchen.


They are not shaped like regular scissors they are shaped like shears.

Grill pan

Grill pan can refer to several types of items: A frying pan with a series of parallel ridges used for
cooking food with radiant heat on a stovetop, or with a metal grid in it.
Mixer

a mixer is a kitchen device that uses a gear-driven mechanism to rotate a set of "beaters" in a bowl
containing the food or liquids to be prepared by mixing them.

Cutting board

A cutting or chopping board is a durable board on which to place material for cutting.


Cleaver knife

A cleaver is a large knife that varies in its shape but usually resembles a rectangular-


bladed hatchet. It is largely used as a kitchen or butcher knife intended for hacking through bone.
The knife's broad side can also be used for crushing in food preparation (such as garlic).

Baking tray

A baking trayis a flat, rectangular metal pan used in an oven. It is often used for baking bread
rolls, pastries and flat products such as cookies, sheecakes, Swiss rolls and pizzas.
These pans, like all bakeware, can be made of a variety of materials, but are
primarily aluminum or stainless steel.
Cooling rack

A cooling rack (also known simply as a wire rack) is used to allow air to circulate freely
to cool baked goods, and to prevent them getting soggy from condensation.

Basting brush

A pastry brush, also known as a basting brush, is a cooking utensil used to


spread butter, oil or glaze on food.
