The start of our Chartered Accountants Firm “UCC & Associates LLP” was another first as no one in my family had
ever ventured into starting an enterprise on their own. Since 2005 I plunged myself totally in our Firm after getting
necessary professional exposure with Price Waterhouse. I shall not credit myself entirely with our Firm success as it has
been built on the strength of teamwork, dedication and hard work of like-minded stakeholders and staff who have
contributed immensely towards the growth of our Firm.

Starting and running a CA firm is not tough in terms of working capital /fixed capital as no major initial investment is
required. Biggest challenge is in getting clients, serving them and retaining them. For all this you require a good office
space and dedicated and professional staff to deliver as per client needs and timelines. We focussed on these challenges
and today we have created a footprint of our firm being recognised as one known for ethical and professional standards.

Our journey, challenges and reaching the present position:

Our journey of little over a decade on this self-start-up professional venture has been very demanding, engrossing and
fulfilling. In terms of challenges, we have to take on competition from the big 4 Firms who often have an edge over us
due to their infrastructure and financial and human resources strength. But we are proud to say that even in the absence
of a level playing field we have stood up to the tide of times and today when we look back at all the challenges put
together they appear to be very small and inconsequential compared to our achievements and our contribution to the
Society.

Let me now share some statistics of our Firm – UCC & ASSOCIATES LLP:

a. Gender ratio:

b. Growth – Turnover and client base:

We have grown from Rs. 10.17 Lakhs at the take off stage in 2003-04 to now Rs. 543.35 lakhs in 2017-18.Further
we have a 275 strong client base of which PSUs,/PPP and MNCs contribute about 85% of our turnover which is a
very healthy indicator of the professional services that we render.

c. Contribution to Exchequer:
Over a period of 13 years we have raised our share of contribution in public exchequer from a small Rs. 0.16 lakhs in
2003-04 to Rs. 130 lakhs in 2017-18. Today we contribute about 24% of our turnover towards direct and indirect
taxes. Cumulatively, we have paid Rs. 762 lakhs to the exchequer during this period.

d. Skill Development and employability:

Over a period of time, we have nurtured about 350 apprentices who come from very diverse background and mostly
from small towns and villages. We have provided them with opportunities and exposure to highest standards of
professional work along with necessary guidance, atmosphere and monetary support in clearing the extremely
tough chartered accountancy examination. As a result, about 100 apprentices today adorn the degree of Chartered
Accountancy. Other apprentices are gainfully employed and are very well placed.

Besides, this we regularly take fresh undergraduate and graduates who develop while learning on the job and have
made successful careers in and outside of our Firm.
