IOT ECOSYSTEM FOR SMART CITIES

INTRODUCTION

The Internet of Things is an infrastructure that includes physical devices, modern

vehicles, buildings, and even essential electrical devices which we use on a consistent
basis inter-connected to each other over the internet so that they can accumulate and
exchange data amongst themselves.

These "Things" have the priority and the ability to self-organize and communicate with
other things without human intervention. The concept of IoT aims to present the Internet
even more pervasive and even more immersive. Moreover, by enabling easy access and
interaction with an extensive variety of devices such as instance for home appliances,
monitoring, surveillance cameras, sensors, displays, actuators, and vehicles. The IoT will
improve the development of various applications that make use of the massive amount
and diversity of data produced by objects to implement further services to companies,
citizens, and public administrations.

The massive deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) is allowing Smart City projects and
initiatives all over the world. The IoT is a modular approach to merge various sensors with
all the ICT solutions. With over 50 billion objects will be connected and deployed in smart
cities in 2020. The heart of smart cities operations is the IoT communications. IoT is
designed to support Smart City concept, which aims at utilizing the most advanced
communication technologies to promote services for the administration of the city and the
citizens.

PROBLEMS I N CURRENT INFRASTRUCTURE

• Inefficient power management

• Traffic congestions
• Car Parking issues
• Late notifications of disasters
• No real-time air pollution monitoring
• Poor waste disposal system
• No main control center to monitor and control the whole city
• Conventional cash-based Fuel system
• And many more.

• Smart power generation and real time monitoring
• Card based Automatic fuel dispenser
• Automated Street Lights
• Smart Parking management
• Real time Air Quality monitoring System.
• Garbage and waste collection bins overflow Alert system (GSM/Wireless).
• Disaster Alerts
• Smart Advertising and City Notifications (App as well as on the road)
• Real time Greenhouse Environment Monitoring and Controlling
• Public Garden Automation
• Smart City maintenance (Citizens will report about the damages to urban
elements for speedy repair).
• Quick reporting of accidents or call for help through our citizen app

METHODOLOGY

• We’ll develop two mobile applications, one for the monitoring and
controlling of city parameters and second one for the user to utilize smart
city services and interact with the city authorities.

• We’ll make a prototype to demonstrate all the mentioned key

components of a smart city.

• Every component will be interconnected and then will be connected to

our App using internet.

CONCLUSION

For governments to successfully increase efficiency, enhance their services, and improve
the quality of life for their residents, they need a platform that can power IoT applications
for smart cities. The right one will aggregate, process, and interpret the data that smart
devices generate, ensuring that the infrastructure is in place to take these cities into the
new era of connectivity.
