MOP of LTE Expansion Integration Procedure R

4. Secure the GPS jumper to the Surge port on the GPS surge protector.

6.1.3 USCU installation (Optional)

In du LTE network LMPT and UMPT are used. LMPT can support GPS antenna system. UMPT

cannot support GPS; the USCU (universal satellite card and clock unit) is required for the GPS

system in the site which is using UMPT.

USCU board will use 1 slot in the BBU. In our solution it will be installed in slot 0 or slot 4 of BBU.

Slot 4 is preferential.
MOP of LTE Expansion Integration Procedure R

6.2 Enable the LCS Feature.

6.2.1 LCS Feature description

LCS: OTDOA

1. In du network OTDOA will be used in the LCS feature. There are 2 scenarios in the activation:

2. BBU is using UMPT, the USCU will be installed as the GPS card.

3. BBU is using LMTP, the GPS will be connected to LMPT.

6.2.2 LCS Feature Activation Procedure.

Scenario1: BBU is using UMPT

 ADD USCU card for GPS in BBU

ADD BRD: CN=0, SRN=0, SN=0, BT=USCU;

 ADD GPS system in eNodeB

ADD GPS: GN=0, CN=0, SN=0, CABLETYPE=COAXIAL, CABLE_LEN=1000, MODE=GPS,

PRI=4;

 SET the eNodeB TIME source as GPS

SET TIMESRC:TIMESRC=GPS;

 Enable OTDOA switch

MOD ENODEBALGOSWITCH:LCSSWITCH=OtdoaSwitch-1;

Scenario2: BBU is using LMPT

 ADD GPS system in eNodeB

ADD GPS: GN=0, CN=0, SN=7, CABLETYPE=COAXIAL, CABLE_LEN=1000, MODE=GPS,

PRI=4;
MOP of LTE Expansion Integration Procedure R

 SET the eNodeB TIME source as GPS

SET TIMESRC:TIMESRC=GPS;

 Enable OTDOA switch

MOD ENODEBALGOSWITCH:LCSSWITCH=OtdoaSwitch-1;

6.2.3 LCS Feature Verification.

Activation of OTDOA-based LCS can be checked based on traced signaling messages or

related counter values.

To check whether OTDOA-based LCS has been successfully activated based on traced signaling

messages, perform the following steps:

Step 1 On the M2000 client, start an S1 interface tracing task.

Step 2 Enable a UE to initiate a location request with specific QoS requirements for positioning.

After receiving the location request, the MME initiates an OTDOA-based positioning procedure.

Step 3 Check for the following messages over the S1 interface:

The DOWNLINK NON UE ASSOCIATED LPPA TRANSPORT message sent from the MME to

the eNodeB, containing the IE OTDOA INFORMATION REQUEST

The UPLINK NON UE ASSOCIATED LPPA TRANSPORT message sent from the eNodeB to

the MME, containing the IE OTDOA INFORMATION RESPONSE

If these two messages can be traced, OTDOA-based LCS has been successfully activated.

----End

To check whether OTDOA-based LCS has been successfully activated based on related counter

values, perform the following steps:

Step 1 On the M2000 client, start a task to collect the values of the L.LCS.OtdoaMeas.Req and

L.LCS.OtdoaMeas.Succ counters in the LCS Measurement (Cell) measurement unit.

Step 2 During the measurement period, enable a UE to initiate a location request with specific

QoSrequirements for positioning. After receiving the location request, the MME initiates

anOTDOA-based positioning procedure.

Step 3 Check the values of the L.LCS.OtdoaMeas.Req and L.LCS.OtdoaMeas.Succ counters. If

the values are not 0s, OTDOA-based LCS has been successfully activated.
