I. Activity Title : 2nd Media Forum

VI. Rationale
Media is an essential part of the government. It serves as a watchdog looking into
all angles and events concerning the public. It is the media practitioners who deliver
stories closer to the people and affect change. However, what people see and believe
in is completely different from what is happening in the real world.

“It’s the practice of real journalism versus commercialism”, as what has been said
by Professor Danilo Arao, a communication professor at the University of the
Philippines. It is a proof that passion and dedication is not enough to pursue a career
in the media industry. Because in reality, it is the matter of competition where one has
to stand alone, explore the industry, and provide variety of talents and skills to his/her
clients, employer, and his/her audiences.

With this Media Forum, the realization of the preferred field of specialization of
the proponents and young aspirants is expected to be generated.

VII. Objectives:

Generally, this aims to:

1. Provide first-hand information about the technicalities of the media industry to
future media practitioners.

Specifically, this aims to:

1. Orient the participants of the reality in the media industry, specifically about
media writing;
2. Assess the strengths of future media practitioners and help them realize their
preferred field of specialization.
