Sri Isopanisad Open Book Answer

Answers:
A. Society in general

In today’s world most of the people think that whatever they have in life in terms of money family
friends or any other living and non-living things they consider it that this is their own property and
try to have the full control over it. In today’s life everyone wants to be master no one wants to serve
or to be servant.

Isavasyam means everything belongs to the supreme lord and everything is lord’s property. In
today’s society we must apply the principle of isavasyam. We can see most of crime is because
everyone wants to grab everything which gives him/her security, satisfaction, pleasure, name &
fame and to achieve all this most of the times the individual breaks the laws and involve himself in
criminal activities. People also think it’s their right to grab all these things and after getting the
things people start defending it instead of sharing it with other and sometimes while defending they
again involved in other criminal activities and these types of peoples call themselves civilized.

Now a days Government & different NGOs are organising big programs and spending big amount on
how to control these criminal activities. Unless we all take God/Krishna consciousness there will be
no end of these activities.

With this mentality of grabbing all the things we are violating the laws of nature.

Unfortunately, Most of the people think that whatever they have earned thinks and consider it their
own property and they do not consider that everything comes from the supreme and people are
generally involved in animalistic lifestyles, in which sense gratification is the goal, and are not
interested in spiritual life, and as a result they end up with many anxieties, like the animals.
However, if one takes to Krishna consciousness and thinks that everything belongs to Krishna
including his property and family members and serve them in Krishna conscious way than one can
advance in the spiritual life as well as in material life, even if one is not able to complete the process
in this life. Therefore, at any cost, one should practice Krishna consciousness and avoid the pitfalls of
material life.

For everything we all work so hard for will soon be lost. It is not that we need to abandon our duties
to our family and society, but our activities must become God-centered we must consider and link all
things around us that this is the property of Krishna and I should utilize this in the service of krishna.
Even a small amount of service to the Lord guarantees a human body in our next birth for continuing
that service. Once our service to the Lord is completely pure we become reinstated in our eternal
relationship with Him.

B. ISKCON

Śrīla Prabhupāda explains: “The material world is sometimes compared to an ocean, and human
body is compared to a solid boat designed especially to cross this ocean. The Vedic scriptures and
the Acharya, or saintly teachers, are compared to expert boatmen, and the facilities of the human
body are compared to favorable breezes that help the boat ply smoothly to its desired destination.
If, with all these facilities, a human being does not fully utilize his life for self-realization, he must be
considered atma-ha, a killer of the soul.” The words spoken by the Lord are called apauruṣeya, which
indicates that they are not delivered by any mundane person. If one takes to Krishna consciousness
one’s future becomes bright, even if one is not able to complete the process in this life. Therefore, at
any cost, one should practice Krishna consciousness and avoid the pitfalls of material life. We must
takes the spiritual benefit of ISKCON and consider it that Krishna has done this arrangement for me
so that I can go back to goahead.

C. Your own life

This human form of life gives us the unique capability and responsibility of engaging in spiritual
realization and engaging myself in the Lord’s service I can re-establish my eternal relationship with
Him. By limiting myself to only material necessities I gradually detach myself from material activities.
I should consider everything within this world as the property of the Lord, meant for His enjoyment. I
can pray for this realization of accepting everything as the Lord’s property.
