3 BOX OFFICE HITS TO WIN GOLDEN GLOBES AND OSCAR NOMINATIONS

You can’t go wrong when you’ve got tons of critics applauding and at least 2 awarding bodies to back
you up.

The recently concluded GOLDEN GLOBES announced its winners in Best Motion Picture, and The OSCAR
AWARDS just announced its hottest OSCAR nominees. There is no shortage of critically acclaimed films
this year, but of course we only want the best.

Aside from the awards, we’re selecting the ones with the widest and strongest critical acclaim, as
determined by Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes, and IMDB. Just in case there are any doubts.

So here are the absolute best FILMs that deserve every cheer and applause:

12 Years A Slave

Directed by Steve McQueen, this award winning story is about a free black man in pre-civil war america
that was abducted and sold into slavery. The FILM beautifully elucidates his fight for survival and
freedom with powerful dramatic storytelling that revisits the issues of slavery in a very raw light, hence
images of violence and cruelty, and surprisingly, kindness.

Based on an award winning book of the same title, 12 Years A Slave raked in awards around the globe,
including the Toronto FILM festival, Amsterdam FILM Week 2013, and UPC Audience Award. It gained a
97% Metacritic score, 9/10 from Rotten Tomatoes out of 238 reviews, and scored 8.5/10 on IMDB. Of
course, this was picked Best Motion Picture at the GOLDEN GLOBES, and is a top contender at the
OSCARS.
Gravity

This is no ordinary sci-fi thriller. Alfonso Cuaron has outdone himself with a very original and compelling
story of a woman scientist – played by Sandra Bullock - struggling to survive the harsh conditions of
outer space and at the same time deal with her internal struggles. This box office hit turns the science
fiction genre over its head by accurately presenting the real dangers past the stratosphere, from
commonplace functions as breathing, to floating debris.

Aside from the theme of human struggle to survive, the FILM also touches on faith, love, and human
connection. To no one's surprise the FILM received universal acclaim, with Alfonso Cuaron winning best
director at the GOLDEN GLOBESs, and the FILM garnering 10 nominations at the OSCARS. It gained
9.1/10 average critics’ score with Rotten Tomatoes, 96/100 with Metacritic, and A- grade at
CinemaScore.

Wolf of Wall Street

Martin Scorsese has yet another dark absurdist theme in his hot new biopic Wolf of Wall Street.
Leonardo di Caprio plays the hard-nosed tycoon Belfort in his ostentatious Stock Broker lifestyle, and the
misgivings of the shadowy trading company he built, Stratton-Oakmont. In regular Scorsese fashion, we
see ‘colorful’ characters getting themselves in a sadistic lot of trouble, which is both spectacularly fun to
watch and morally unsettling at the same time.

The ‘Wolf’ received positive reviews from critics, nominated for 5 academy awards, nominated 4
BAFTA’s, and received 2 GOLDEN GLOBES Awards, one of which was Best Actor for Leonardo di Caprio’s
dynamic portrayal. It’s fascinating how you can appreciate the FILM the more the protagonist makes you
hate him.

Now that we’ve whet your taste buds, it’s time to get a taste of the Hollywood history in theaters, with
these GOLDEN GLOBE winners and OSCAR nominees. If you think there are other FILMs deserving of a
top spot, please let us know by leaving a comment, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and
