-wrote the Safe House, is a teacher of literature and creative writing at the University of the
Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. She earned her degree in Creative Writing at the same
school. A part from winning the Philippine Free Press literary award for essay, she is also
recognized by both local and international writing fellowships.

 What is the meaning of The Safe House


-Safe House is not literally a safe house because the meaning of the Safe House is a place where
a person hides from the police, stays to be protected by the police in short it is a hideout of
rebellion who against the reigning of former President of the Philippine, Ferdinand Marcos.

Exposition
-From the street, it is just one box among many. Beneath red clay roof tiles baking uniformly in
the sweltering noon, the building’s grey concrete face stares out impassively in straight lines and
angles. Its walls are high and wide, as good walls should be. A four – storey building, with four
units to floor. At dusk, the square glass windows glitter like the compound eyes of insects,
revealing little of what happens inside. There is not much else to see.
