I. OBJECTIVE: Interpret tables and graphs

II. CONTENT: Interpreting Tables and Graphs 1
III. LEARNING RESOURCES:
Visuals: graphs, pictures, copy of the reading texts
Online Resources: www.math-aids.com, google.com/images
IV. PROCEDURES:
A. “ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS!” (Just-for-fun activities)

Types of graphs
1. Pie graphs - (sometimes called pie or circle charts) are used to show the parts that make up a
whole. They can be useful for comparing the size of relative parts.
2. A Pictograph is a way of showing data using images. Each image stands for a certain number

5. At what time was the temperature at the lowest?

Answer: 1. 20, 2.28, 3.decrease, 4. 6pm, 5. 2pm

2. Tell what is ‘interpreting graphs.

INTERPRETING GRAPHS - being able to identify clearly what the graph or table is telling us
-reading off particular data from points on the table or graph
-exploring patterns and relationships in data or information.

E. --------

F. Facilitate students’ answers.

G. Give instances when to use table and graphs to present information visually.

In the real world, graphs are used to help people quickly understand and use information.
Examples include graphs used in medicine and in business. (Other possible answers are expected.)

H. State the importance of knowing how to interpret tables and graphs.
