1. Discuss and explain the Parallelism interconnectedness of the following concept:

a. Social Stratification

b. Bureaucracy

c. Functionalist Theory

d. Conflict Theory

How are they manifested/defected in an Educational Administration? Cite a particular scenario to illustrate your

idea.

In Functionalism Theory, they viewed society as a system in which all parts are working together and each

component has its own role and contribution to the society. Every part plays an important function but it cannot

function alone. They need each other to accomplish a certain task. In society, there is a body of public servants

organized in a hierarchical system. It means that there is an organizational structure in which every individual

will be grouped according to its socio-economic status based upon their occupation and income, wealth or power

etc. Because of this social differentiation that creates inequality; social competition will occur. There will be social

conflict because of unequal wealth, power, authority, etc.

It will be manifested in the school for example when the principal will use his/her position in making every

decision regarding money matters in the school without even asking or informing his/her subordinates( teachers)

just because he is the boss/head in the school.

2. Identify and discuss the appropriate theories and principles and the principles explaining vital social- cultural

issues and concerns affecting man, social institutions and the society in general.

We have contemporary theories like Evolutionary theory, Functionalist theory and Conflict theory. Evolutionary

theory was based on Darwin’s biological evolution, and it views society as moving in a definite direction. In this

theory, it states that when a society is highly progressing, the behavior and culture of an individual will also

change. He/she will adapt that social change and to move forward every time there will be changes in the society.

Functionalist theory explains that as changes occurs in the society; adjustment must be done to achieve stability

or social equilibrium. The theory focuses on what are the things that maintain the system and not on what are

the changes on it. Conflict theory views society as unstable and give emphasis on the separate parts of society and

the conflict that occurs among them. There will be social change as the result of these struggles and the main

source of conflict is the unequal distribution of power and authority.

3. Write a critical analysis of the Philippine value system in relation to Philippine educational system.

There is a greater change of behavior to our students nowadays compare to the youth before. At present,

students are experiencing peer pressure in which it leads them to do inappropriate behavior. They tend to listen

and follow their friends instead to their parents. Before, the youth valued and cared so much their studies. They

want to give honor and pride to their families. Even how hard life is for them, they still pursue their studies and

payback the hardship of their parents. The youth of today are more aggressive and don’t value their studies that

much. Some of them are just wasting the money given by their parents by spending it in the internet cafe doing

some online games, night out with friends and drinking alcoholic beverages. To them, education is not that

important. The rapid innovation of technology causes some negative effects to the culture and beliefs of an

individual. Like what happened to our youth today, they tend to forget the Philippine values as their attention is

on the trends of today even it is not proper and pleasing to the eyes. On this matter, it is important that there

is a guidance of the parent and always does a follow-up to the school performance of their children. Giving them

support and spending time with them. It will create a good way of communication in which they will understand

each other.

4. Make an abstract of educational laws affecting teacher/administrators, their rights and privileges, duties, and

obligations, welfare and benefits.

Education is the right of every child in the classroom. As the teacher educate her learners, it is important that he

is equipped also with the knowledge and skills on what he will be going to teach to his learners. To make that

happen, it is important that there will be programs like trainings and seminars provided for teachers’

professional growth. Even teachers were not paid that much, we are happy to see our learners every day.
