Q4: Choose between changing the equipment inside the company or the atmosphere of

the company

Whenever it comes to the issue of making an ideal condition for workers to work in the
company, there are never sort of discussions and arguments. Some might argue that
changing the equipment inside the company will allow the workers to maximize their
productivity. However, as far as I am concerned, it will be better to change the atmosphere
of the company.

The first of my reasoning would be that there is a tendency for the change in the
atmosphere to motivate the workers. This is because as the workers are exposed to a new
atmosphere, they may be given the notion of having a new start. The concept of a new start
allows the workers to have a sense of feeling refreshed as they move away from the
common atmosphere which they could be tired in going to. This ideology is applied to
everyone. Even if a person starts off extremely motivated, after time passes, it is highly
likely that a person gets worn out if they continuously go to the same place for an extended
period of time every day. Hence, by changing the atmosphere, as workers will be exposed to
a new atmosphere, they are liable to feel this emotion less. Not only, the workers will be
given the notion that the company is considerate of the workers. By doing this, workers will
feel more important and that they play a larger role as an employee to the company. In fact,
it has been proven that if the workers feel they play a larger role in the company, they
become more motivated. This is beneficial for both the company and the worker as the
company will be able to make profit, whilst the worker will feel less motivated.

In addition, by changing the atmosphere, it provides the opportunity for more workers to
work in the atmosphere of their preference. Not only, the changed atmosphere could work
better for some workers and thus be able to maximize their productivity. Potentially, for
some workers, there could have been some form of discomfort with the previous
atmosphere of the company. Thus, by changing the atmosphere, it provides an opportunity
for these employees to work in an atmosphere which they prefer more. This simultaneously
increases the likeliness of the satisfaction of more employees as more workers will be likely
to work in their preferred atmosphere. To add on, in the process of changing the
atmosphere, the company will be given the opportunity to see which atmosphere workers
work best in. Through this opportunity, as time proceeds, the company will be able to
create a more ideal atmosphere for the workers.

On the other hand, some people may say changing the atmosphere could require a lot of
effort and may be create challenges as some workers have to adjust and familiarize with the
new atmosphere. However, as the atmosphere doesn’t correspond to a change in culture, it
won’t result in situations where workers have hardships in adapting to the new atmosphere.
Not only, within a span of a few weeks, workers will soon be able to get used to the new
environment. Thus, the process of the workers adapting to the new atmosphere will not be
a major problem. Furthermore, as the potential benefits overrun these minor
disadvantages, it will be a better choice to change the atmosphere of the company, rather
than the equipment.
To conclude, changing the atmosphere of a company will enable workers to maximize their
productivity as well as increase their satisfaction. Due to these reasons, if I had the choice, I
would recommend to change the atmosphere of the company.
