Like any machine, the body has to have fuel to supply it
with the energy it needs. Because the body constantly renews
itself, chemicals from food are needed to build cells as well.

DIGESTION

Once swallowed, food is mixed with acids in the


stomach and then moves on to the intestines. Here, the
chemicals that the body needs are absorbed from it into the
body. The chemicals used to break down food produced in the
pancreas and liver, as well as in the walls of the intestines.

WASTE MATERIALS

In The colon, the process of digestion is


completed. Water is removed and the fesses are formed and
passed to the rectum before being excreted through the anus.
The kidneys remove water and wastes from the blood to form
urine. The urine passes to the bladder and is excreted through
the urethra.
