B. Differentiate prose from poetry by
giving out the characteristics of each
major division of literature

PRE-ACTIVITY
Present different materials and ask to
identify them as “Literature” or “Not
Literature” to set their minds on the
meaning of literature.
B. WHILE ACTIVITY
By using the deductive method, ask
the students to answer questions
prepared by the teacher to unlock their
previous understanding of literature,
prose, and poetry.
Integrate the meaning of literature to
their own understanding of it by collating
their given meanings and the textbook
definition of “literature.”
Allow the students to write the
meaning of literature, prose and poetry in
their learning logs
C. Post Listening Analytical Questions
Allow the students to write the
meaning of literature, prose and poetry in
their learning logs
D. Homework
Prepare an outline of the different
literary types using manila Paper/cartolina
I. Objectives:
A. Develop an idea / background on the
lesson by presenting an organized
outline of the different literary types
B. Enumerate the different kinds of literary
composition under “Prose” and “Poetry”

Outline of the Literary Types

A. Giving Reminders/Directions
Group the class into 5 groups of 10
members each.
Ask the group to present their outline
to the class.
B. WHILE ACTIVITY
The reporter of each group must
present an organized outline of the
literary types to the class by explaining
each literary term.
The class should take note of the
outputs while a report is ongoing.
C. Post Listening Analytical Questions
Other groups should be encouraged
to ask questions.
D. Homework
Research on the meaning of the
different literary types.

literary types through group activities
B. Participate in group differentiated tasks
to gain mastery on the definition of
different literary types
II. Content/Subject Matter
Understanding the Different Literary
Terms

Let the class go back to their original
group.
Brainstorm on the definition of the
different literary groups as given out in
the agreement.
B. WHILE ACTIVITY
Each group must report on their
assigned topics to discuss.
Each group should be able to give
clear and concise definition of the
literary terms assigned to them.
C. Post Listening Analytical Questions
Other groups should be encouraged
to ask questions.
D. Homework
Prepare for a quiz on Thursday and
Friday.
