What are the bias or errors that you found in the arguments (bad
arguments, fallacies, omissions, false inferences and deceptive statistics)?
The text talks mainly about how a big percentage of the obesity and
overweight in Mexico is caused by the high intake of energetic beverages.
Nevertheless, it didn’t mention statistics or hard evidence that supports the
claims made. Therefore, although it might be true, it doesn’t have
evidence to confirm it. Also, it mentioned that policies and programs would
make a change in the impact of sugar-beverages, but the text don’t have
sources that supports that claim.
In which way are you ordering your own arguments to avoid being
disperse?
I’m objectively analyzing the arguments and claims made throughout text,
and then reasoning them using critical thinking. Also, I tried to make short
and clear sentences, and to organize my text with questions, and answers
engaging myself in a reflective thinking. Thus, I left behind assumptions
and I tried to build my arguments appraising the ones mentioned
throughout the text.
Conclusion
Obesity and Overweight are a problem in Mexico, and the text argues
about how the sugar-added beverages play an important role in this
findings. It tells how the Congreso de la Unión has an initiative to tax with
an IEPS. However, has a lack on information, and reliable sources that
back up how sugar-added beverages have a direct impact in Mexico’s
overweight, and obesity. As well as, it doesn’t have statistics or sources
that support how the tax would have a direct impact into lowering the
obesity and overweight in Mexico. Thus, the arguments made need bases
and foundations.
