RULES AND GUIDELINES

1. BALAK FOR KID SCOUTS

1. This category is open to all KID Scouts only.
2. The piece shall be provided by each contestant and be submitted in duplicate copies.
3. The contest piece must be not less than 1 minute.
4. Criteria for judging shall be:
a) Contest Piece according to theme 30%
b) Delivery (diction, pronunciation, enunciation) 30%
c) Interpretation 30%
d) Stage Presence (poise, gesture, uniform) 10%
2. DRAWING
1. This category is for KID Scouts only.
2. Each contestant must provide his own painting paraphernalia.
3. Medium to be used is pastel on a one fourth (1/4) size Illustration Board.
4. Object to be drawn will be provided by the judges
5. Criteria for judging will be:
a) Visual Impact 40%
b) Color Harmony 25%
c) Workmanship 35%
3. DECLAMATION
1. This Category is open to all KAB Scouts only
1. The piece must follow the theme.
2. The piece shall be provided by each contestant and be submitted in duplicate copies.
3. The contest piece must be recited in English and must not exceed 3 minutes.
4. Criteria for judging shall be:
a. Contest Piece (according to Theme) 30%
b. Delivery (diction, pronunciation, enunciation) 30%
c. Interpretation 30%
d. Stage Presence (poise, gesture, and uniform) 10%
4. ON-THE-SPOT DRAWING
1. This category shall open to all KAB Scouts only
2. Each contestant must provide his own drawing paraphernalia
3. Medium to be used is pastel on a one fourth (1/4) size Illustration board.
4. Object to be drawn will be provided by the judges
5. Criteria for judging shall be:
a. Visual Impact 40%
b. Color Harmony 25%
c. Workmanship 35%
5. ABILIDAD KO, UGMARON KO (Got Talent)
1. This category is for KAB Scouts only.
2. Each contestant will be given 2-4 minutes to present his talent.
3. Back up performers are allowed.
4. Criteria for judging will be:
a) Level of Difficulty 30%
b) Uniqueness 30%
c) Delivery 30%
d) Audience Impact 10%
6. VOCAL SOLO FOR BOY SCOUTS
1. This category is open to all Boy scouts only.
2. The piece must either be in Visayan, Filipino or English.
3. The piece must carry a message close to the tenets of Scouting
4. Minus-One or live accompaniment shall be allowed
 5. Criteria for judging shall be:
a. Tonal Quality (timbre, projection & pitch) 30%
b. Musicality (dynamics, tempo & rhythm) 30%
c. Interpretation (expression, diction, costume
and general audience appeal) 30%
d. Choice of Piece (Suitability to voice & theme) 10%
7. ON-THE-SPOT PAINTING
1. This category is open to all Boy Scouts only.
2. Each contestant must provide his own painting paraphernalia.
3. Medium to be used is pastel on a one fourth (1/4) size Illustration Board.
4. Painting must come from the idea of the contestant on which message must be close to
the tenets of scouting and current BSP theme.
5. Criteria for judging shall be:
a. Visual Impact 40%
b. Color Harmony 25%
c. Workmanship 35%
8. BALAK FOR BOY SCOUTS
1. This category is open to all Boy Scouts only.
2. The piece shall be provided by each contestant and be submitted in duplicate copies.
3. The contest piece must be not less than 3 minutes but not to exceed 5 minutes.
4. Criteria for judging shall be:
a. Contest Piece (according to Theme) 30%
b. Delivery (diction, pronunciation, enunciation) 30%
c. Interpretation 30%
d. Stage Presence (poise, gesture, uniform) 10%
9. ORATION
1. This category is open to all Senior Scouts only.
2. The piece must follow the theme.
3. The piece shall be provided by each contestant and be submitted in duplicate copies.
4. The contest piece must be in English and must not exceed 5 minutes.
5. Contestants and their trainers must refrain from slanderous or libelous statements
against any institution or the government
6. Criteria for judging shall be:
a. Content and Organization 30%
b. Delivery (diction, pronunciation & enunciation) 30%
c. Mastery 30%
d. Stage Presence (poise, gesture, uniform) 10%
10. POSTER MAKING
1. This category shall be open to all Senior Scouts only
2. Each contestant must provide his own drawing paraphernalia.
3. Medium to be used is pastel on a one fourth (1/4) size Illustration Board.
4. Criteria for judging shall be:
a. Artistic Presentation 30%
b. Message 40%
c. Originality 30%
11. VOCAL SOLO WITH ACOUSTIC ACCOMPANIMENT FOR SENIOR SCOUTS
1. This category is open to all Senior scouts only.
2. The piece must either be in Visayan, Filipino or English.
3. The piece must carry a message close to the tenets of Scouting
4. Live acoustic guitar accompaniment by the contestant himself
5. Criteria for judging shall be:
a) Tonal Quality (timbre, projection & pitch)/
Musicality (dexterity & style) 30%
b) Musicality (dynamics, tempo & rhythm)/
Precision & Mastery 30%
c) Interpretation (expression, diction, costume
and general audience appeal) 30%
d) Choice of Piece (Suitability to voice & theme) 10%

Note: duration for all visual arts contests is two (2) hours.
