1. SUMMARY
This document describes the user guide for the Integration with AutoVue Advanced viewer as
part of the modules implementation for the project Building Permit Request Automation
Phase II.

2. INTRODUCTION
AutoVue is an advanced imaging viewer which supports DWG and DWF files, with the ability of
adding markups to these files.

3. AUTOVUE INTEGRATION
AutoVue integration will be used by two types of users: Municipality Engineers and
Consultants
3.1. MUNICIPALITY ENGINEERS

3.1.1 OPEN AND ADD MARKUPS


Municipality engineers can open building maps (DWG/DWF) using AutoVue along with adding
the markups (notes) for the consultant to amend if necessary.
In order to open/add markups, the engineer should follow the below steps:
 Go to attachments tree
 Navigate to the required file(map)
 Right click on the file  go to AutoVue Actions  click “Open With Markups” Button

Upon clicking the open button, a new window will open the file in AutoVue with markups (if
added) (figure 2 below)

In order to add markups user can either go to Markup  Add Entity (under toolbar), then
choose the markup he want to add (figure 3)

Or he/she can add markups from the left panel in AutoVue (figure 4)

3.1.1.1. MARKUP TYPES

The user can add a set of predefined markups described below:

 Distance: To add a distance markup the user clicks on distance button , a new
window will pop-up (figure 5) where he/she can change the measurement unit, then
the user need to select two locations on the map in order to have the distance from
the 1st location to the 2nd one (figure 6). Once the locations are selected, the user can
close the pop-upped window

 Text: In order to add a text markup, user clicks on text markup button , selects the
region where he want to add the text then write inside it (figure 7)

 Highlight: To highlight anything on the map, the user clicks on Highlight button
and selects a region where he/she needs to highlight as shown in figure 8 below (red
rectangle)

 Leader: to add a leader, the user clicks on Leader button and click on the
pointed position then right click in order to add the text (figure 9)

And he/she can add other shapes like lines, circles and polygons.

When the engineer is done from adding markups, he/she must save them by:
1. clicking “Markup” in the top toolbar Save

Once he/she click save, a new window will pop up (figure 11) where the user needs to enter an
id for these markups

3.1.2 COMPARE DOCUMENTS


Sometimes municipality engineers needs to compare a current building map with its previous
version to check for any changes done, so for that they will have in the attachments tab, in
addition to opening a file in AutoVue, the option to compare with the previous version (if any).
From the tree the user must right click on the file  AutoVue Actions  Compare Documents
button. A new pop up will opens showing the document for the current request (figure 12),
the user checks 2 files and click compare button (figure 13), a new browser window will open
showing the current version map in a panel, the previous version of the map in another panel
and another panel showing the similarities, difference between both versions (figures 14-15)
Legends:
1. Blue: Same map details in both versions
2. Red: Deleted things
3. Green: Added things

3.2. CONSULTANT
Consultants will not have access to AutoVue, all what they need is to see the list of markups
added by municipality engineer, and download the file (as PDF) with the markups.
The consultant will achieve this by: right click on the file  list markups (figure 16); a new
window will pop showing the list of markups added by the engineer along with a download
button (figure 17)

The consultant will press on download button to get the file with the markups on it (figures 18-
