Budget-Friendly Church Wedding

Back in October 2018, when my husband proposed to me, I didn’t know

anything about weddings. After 2 months of wedding planning, I
realized the three BIG problems of newly engaged couples:

BUDGET. Your budget is not enough to pay for all the best wedding
suppliers.
You’re finding it hard to balance your time between work and
wedding planning.
You either have NO IDEA at all or you are OVERWHELMED with so
many information available. Both leading you to become undecided.

Have you felt these struggles, too?

As a clueless bride-to-be I was so scared to make mistakes...

So I spent sleepless nights trying to find out everything I can about

wedding planning. Every morning, I spent an hour scrolling on Google
and Pinterest; hoping na sana maging kasing ganda ng mga nasa
Pinterest ang kasal namin.

But aside from the date of the wedding, wala pa kaming ibang na-
finalize. Despite always checking things online. Sa kagustuhan ko
maging maganda ang wedding, mas lalo akong natatakot magbook ng
wedding suppliers.

Hanggang sa naisipan ko, maghire na lang kaya ako ng wedding

planner para siya na ang gagawa ng lahat?

 Pero the most reliable wedding planners available costs 100k and up.

Nakakaloka diba?

Kaya naghanap ako ng mura lang. But to my surprise, ang mga murang
wedding planners will already cost you 40k to 50k. At ang
pinakanakakatakot, I read reviews online na may mga inefficient na
wedding planners.

May nabasa ako na brides-to-be’s post na after they paid the

downpayment, ang bagal na magreply ng supplier sa kanila. Yung iba
naman, sinasabi na hindi nya nagugustuhan ang mga suppliers na
nirerefer sa kanya ng wedding planner, which is ayokong maexperience.

So, I said, “Maybe I should try to plan my own wedding.”

What happened was, with the help of my very supportive husband and
Maid of Honor, I made my dream church wedding happened. I managed
to save 100k from not hiring a wedding planner and I pulled off a 200k
church wedding.

Then, after the wedding, I posted some wedding tips on my facebook

account. I even posted reviews of the best suppliers and even the not-
so-good suppliers to help my friends who are getting married soon.

Until I received messages everyday telling me that my tips and reviews

help them a lot, kasi wala silang mapagtanungan about wedding
planning. So, that’s how I started. That is basically what you need to
know about me before we start going through this report.

Our Fairytale-Like Wedding

Here are some of the photos from our cherry blossom-inspired church
wedding. We had a morning wedding, 10AM, but I was so glad we
started on time.

Can you believe with that dreamy setup, we did not hire a stylist?

We only hired a reliable florist and communicated all of our

requirements to them. I’m so amazed with how it went.

Since our 10AM wedding started on-time, our guests were never
starved, because the buffet area opened on time, too.

Again, these things didn’t happen miraculously. I had to plan everything

properly, from major details up until the tiniest details like napkin fold
design.

mga posts mo kasi yung mga tips mo magagamit ko. Saka yung wedding
mo parang hindi lang 200k, ang ganda kasi!”

DEFINE YOUR BUDGET

The first step is you and your partner need to be honest about the
budget. You have to talk about it.

As in, you also need to be transparent to each other.

Sino ba ang gagastos for the wedding?

WIll it be groom-to-be or bride-to-be or both? There’s no right or wrong

answer naman, kasi it depends talaga sa pag-uusap ninyong dalawa.

In our case, we split the expenses 50/50.

Then, we were very thankful kasi may mga pamilya at kaibigan kaming
nagsponsor sa ibang expenses, like lechon, cake, souvenirs.

For the sponsorship, mas okay na wag nyo munang i-assume ito unless
siguradong sigurado na kayo na sila na ang magbabayad. Kasi kung
bigla nilang sabihin na hindi sila magsponsor, kukulangin kayo sa
budget.

At kapag kulang kayo sa budget, yan ang magiging dahilan para

mastress kayo as a couple.

Kaya dapat, sa una pa lang ay open na kayo.

KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

Going back to our church setup, I mentioned that we did not have a
stylist, but I told my florist how I want the decorations to look like.

See? I saved money by not paying for a stylist simply because I know
what I wanted.

If you can be very clear with your instructions to your suppliers, you can
make your dream wedding happen.

Don’t assume that your suppliers already know what you want, only you
know what you really want. Do you want to know how I communicated
with my florist?

Since we never met personally, I just messaged them on Messenger.

First, I sent them a photo of the church, then I even asked the church all
the flowers and materials they allow inside. Luckily, our chosen church
was not strict. We can bring in flowers and props inside, except for
fireworks. Which was very understandable.

I relayed that message to my florist, and I told them that for our 10AM
wedding, they can start the setup as early as 7AM. For the design, I just
sent them a copy of the photo I took from their page. That way, I know
they can do the design since they already did it.

For my bridal bouquet, I said that I wanted it plain with a hint of pink.
And they were able to deliver it, just as I requested.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK

Sometimes it’s just so hard to say NO. Right?

But during the wedding planning, you must learn how to say NO and
know how to ask a lot of questions.

This will prevent disappointments and heartaches in the long run.

Instead of immediately booking a supplier because of their offer, you

have to ask them questions.

And make sure all your worries are covered by a written contract before
you even pay a down payment.

These are the things you might need before your wedding day:

1. Skincare routines
2. Visit your favorite salon
3. Get a Facial treatment
4. Get your nails done
5. Go to the gym
6. Treat yourself
7. Have an 8-hour sleep before the big day
