PRESS RELEASE

On October 12th , 2019 at approximately 5:30 PM, the Canton Village

Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the Mountain Mart Parking lot
on East Main Street. During the course of the traffic stop the operator of the
vehicle Jesse L. Anson DOB:08/23/1980 did falsely identify himself as
another person in order to evade an active arrest warrant. Further investigation
did reveal multiple active mobile meth labs in the vehicle, which resulted in a
search warrant for the involved vehicle being obtained through the Canton
Town Court. The State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency
Response Team (CCSERT) did respond and process the evidence and
mitigated the hazardous waste.

Anson was charged with one count of Unlawful Manufacture of Meth 3rd
degree, a class D Felony, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled
Substance 2nd degree, a class A2 Felony, one count of Criminal impersonation,
a class A Misdemeanor, one count of Aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, an
unclassified Misdemeanor and one count of Operating on a suspended
registration, an unclassified Misdemeanor.

Anson was arraigned in Canton Town Court before Judge Morgan

and was ordered held in the St. Lawrence County Jail with no bail.

The Canton Police Department was assisted by the St. Lawrence County
Sheriff’s Department, the New York State Police and their CCSERT Team and
the Canton Fire & Rescue Department.
