6.4 Solid Works Software

6.4.1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Dassault System’s SolidWorks software is used the world over to help bring amazing
products to market. The most productive SolidWorks users operate in a near-optimal
environment that permits them to create the best products possible through multiple
design iterations. But many SolidWorks users may be unwittingly shortchanging their
investment in SolidWorks with a less-than-ideal computing environment. Whether
their modeling techniques are not as advanced or their technology tools are not
optimized, the result is the same: a sapping of the creativity and productivity of an
organization’s most important resource—its employees. As the design cycle continues
to compress, the effect on SolidWorks users who are not operating at optimum
productivity is much more dramatic. From missed release dates to loss of marketshare,
organizations that don’t empower their employees to do their best work are flirting
with disaster.

6.4.2 The Workstation

To take on such a detailed research task, CATI needed a way to easily test a wide
range of configurations without jumping from one workstation to another. Keeping all
of the testing on a single workstation allowed CATI to maintain the level of

21
consistency in the environment needed to properly manage the study. Here, CATI
chose to partner with workstation manufacturer BOXX Technologies.

7.1.3.2 FINDINGS THAT BOOST SOLIDWORKS PERFORMANCE

ATI researchers have determined how various aspects of a computing environment,

including the hardware, software and modeling methodologies, affect SolidWorks
performance. Some of their findings, like adjusting Windows and SolidWorks
settings, are simple and won’t cost you a dime. Other findings may provide the
impetus to make investments in workstation upgrades. The research findings1 that are
reported below are grouped into six related areas: 1. Windows and SolidWorks
settings, including Windows Visual Effect settings and SolidWorks System Options,
and Add-Ins. 2. The number of processor cores and processor clock speed. 3. The
amount of RAM and hard drive swap. 4. Hard drive technologies, including 7200
RPM spindle and solid-state drives. 5. SolidWorks model details, including detail
levels, top-level mates and image quality. 6. The optimal test system.

6.5.2 Operating Systems

 CNC Software continues to review the operating system (OS) requirements

for Mastercam with a view to providing the best possible user experience
for our customers.
 We recommend using Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 64 bit Professional editions.
While Mastercam may run on other Windows versions (such as Home
Edition) or virtual environments (such as Parallels for Mac), it has not been
tested on these configurations and is therefore not supported.
 We have been running Mastercam (versions X8 and later) extensively on
the newly released Windows 10 and have not seen any issues to date.
 Mastercam X7 MU2 was the last release to support Windows 7 32-bit OS.

6.5.3 Processor

The processor speed will impact how fast the software will calculate and complete
tasks. More and more aspects of Mastercam are becoming multi-core processor aware
with each release. Toolpath calculation and Simulation will generally run faster with a
multi-core processor. We typically see a 50% reduction in toolpath calculation time
with the latest Intel i7 or Xeon processors.

6.5.4 Memory

When Mastercam uses all available RAM it switches to using virtual memory space,
which is stored on the hard drive, and will dramatically slow the system down. We
recommend a minimum of 8GB memory. Forlarge toolpath generation and simulation
we recommend 32 GB of RAM.

8.2 Importance of design in production

1. Importance of Design in Production
2. Introduction • The design department can be considered as the research and
development department of clothing industry, because it is in this department
that the proto-types of garments are developed and prepared for selling and
production
3. Process of Product Development For most factories the process of product
development involves seven stages 1. Forecasting 2. Designing 3. Collection
Planning 4. Pattern Making 5. Technology 6. Production of sample garments 7.
Pattern Grading
4. Forecasting • This stage commences with the evaluation and interpretation of
the market’s future needs in terms of fashion and price. • Apart from intuition
and common sense, these forecasts are based on the accumulated knowledge,
expertise and experience of the company to make fairly accurate prediction of

30
the types of garments customers will buy and the prices they will be willing to
pay.
5. Forecasting • Marketing is a collection of activities that include market
research, consumer surveys, and customer service. • The objective is to arrive
at a collection of products for sale in the future and then to promote this
collection in the market. • The ultimate goal is a collection that can be
produced for minimum risk and maximum return.
6. Target Group • A Target group is an identifiable sector of consumers with
broadly similar characteristics, such as –fashion consciousness, –buying habits,
–types of shops used, –brand awareness, –brand loyalty and –quality
requirements.
7. A target group can be defined according to the following criteria. Attitude and
Lifestyle Fashion Awareness and Expectations Women’s wear Menswear
Women’s wear Menswear Anti-Fashion, no demands Trendy fashion follower
Avant-garde Avant-garde Nonconformist Younger, confident, demanding
Fashion Conscious Young Fashions Prestige Oriented Untidy youthful Jeans
type Jeans type Not to be tempted Older, demanding, fashion grouch Career
Woman Career Man Careful, Unsophisticated No particular orientation Modern
woman Modern man Smart, Conservative Conventional, Unsophisticated
Youthful Youthful Young trendy Cultured Businessman Smart Formal Middle
of road Middle of road Bargain hunter Bargain hunter
8. Quality Level • Quality Level is the other factor that determines the market
sector towards which a collection will be aimed. • The quality level defines the
rank of the product in the total range of offers in the market, so far as its design
content and workmanship are concerned.
9. Factors that Influence the Quality Level 1. Fabric Quality 2. Fashion Content 3.
Workmanship in the interior parts 4. Precision of assembly 5. Style and fit 6.
Range of sizes and number of pieces
10. Designer High Quality Upper Middle Middle Bottom, discount Store High
Low EXCLUSIVITY Quantity

31
11. The Following quality levels can be distinguished • Designer – Quality
Characteristics include unique designer labels, small number per style, the most
exclusive fabrics – often with in-house designs – extreme fashion leaders. •
High quality or Model Fashions are characterized by very high levels of
workmanship, exclusive designs and detailing, small series production, limited
size range, fashionable.
12. The Upper Middle Level uses good quality fabrics, provides optimum fit, and
follows the latest fashions in style and colour. • The Middle Level has strict
price constraints, a comprehensive size range, but a limited range of styles. •
The Bottom or Discount level has large quantities of limited styles. Fabric
quality and workmanship are geared to low price levels. The style and fit are of
comparatively lower importance.
13. Designing • In practice, the designer starts by preparing some sketches of the
core ideas for the collection and selecting the fabrics and trim to be used for
each design. • These core designs are garments which contain the main design
and fabric features of the collection and they will be used as the themes for
developing the full range of samples. • For example, four or five core designs
might represent the basic ideas of the collection and each one of these lead to
several variations
14. Elements of Clothing Design • Fashion is not the only consideration in
developing a garment for a market. • The overall appearance (style) as well as
the utility value (fitness for purpose, after care) also have to be appropriate. •
The style, color, decoration, material, trimmings and technique are fundamental
elements of clothing design.

9 Risk Analysis :

A security risk analysis pattern language for web applications with its
corresponding patterns should formalize best practices that can be followed when
analyzing the security risk picture of web applications based on its context. A pattern

32
here defines a reusable and extendable solution for a specific problem occurring in
security risk analysis for a web application; it can either be a basic pattern or a
composite pattern that is composed of several basic patterns or composite patterns. A
basic pattern is an element pattern that can be used to compose a composite pattern by
addressing a partial problem or sub process, while a composite pattern is composed of
a set of basic patterns / composite patterns in order to solve a specific task in the risk
analysis process.

9.1 Tools for Analaysis :

9.1.1 Chi-Square Analysis

The Chi-Square analysis is mainly used to test the independence of two factors. In
other words the chi-square analysis is perform to test the significance of one factor
over the other. In the study factors are gender, age, marital status, monthly income,
education qualification, family size and occupation. Each of the personal factor
consider are compared with study factors and Chi-Square test was performed. The
entire test carried out with 5% level of significance.

We distinguish between three kinds of basic patterns, which are basic pattern for
security requirements, basic pattern for web application design and basic pattern for
risk analysis model. Each represents its own dimension, namely: —Basic principles of
information security standardized in ISO / IEC 27000 [ISO 27000 2009] (e.g.
Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Authenticity and Non-repudiation). —Key
features of web application (e.g. architecture design from business view, logical
process view, deployment view and data view). —Risk analysis model (e.g. Asset
model, Threat model, Risk model, Treatment model).

9.2 Design analysis

Design analysis and simulation functionality provided with packages provide:

33
 Basic Structural Analaysis—Perform basic linear part-level structural analysis of
forces and pressures with fixed restraints; outputs for stress, factor of safety (FOS),
resultant displacement, plus animation of results and eDrawings® output
 Basic Motion - Make your designs move, taking into account simple contacts
between parts, as well as gravity

 Assembly Motion - Calculate the movement of your assembly based upon the
applied SOLIDWORKS mates and motors. Can capture and edit motion key
frames and can save as animation.

9.3 Structural Analysis - Carry out structural simulation on parts and

assemblies with finite element analysis (FEA) and determine impact of material
selection. Take into account variable forces and pressures, full restraint sets (sliders
and pins, etc.), connectors (springs, bolts, spot welds), bolt check to help determine
the correct number and size of fasteners, results (complete control over definition of
results), contacts, materials model (linear, isotropic, orthotropic). For assemblies,
easily identify areas prone to failure and evaluate design changes to enhance product
quality.

9.4 Motion Analysis - Perform physics-based kinematic and dynamic analysis,

using existing SOLIDWORKS mates together with motion features such as forces
springs and dampers to calculate true motion behavior. Determine part and/or
assembly displacements, velocities, and accelerations. Calculate forces and torques at
the part connections, which can be used in a subsequent structural analysis. Show
results as an animation or a graph. Selecting a point on the design allows creation of a
trace path that can be used in subsequent design processes. Check the kinematics and
dynamics of your product design throughout the operating cycle.

34
9.5 Product Portfolio

 By keeping track of the ruling trends of the market, are manufacturing and

selective respondents in a random basis, and the feedbacks has been converted into
table format. This research can create serious motivational, ethical and legal problems
in the workplace. The process was firmly linked to material outcomes. If an
employee’s performance was found to be less than ideal, the benefits will not go the
employee. On the order hand, if their performance was better than the supervisor
expected, all the promotional activities will goes to the respondents.

11.Future Enhancement of Mastercam and Solidworks software
Quickly and easily check dimensions and tolerances using SOLIDWORKS 3D
CD software to assess the manufacturability of your design long before reaching
production. Check parts and assembly tolerances during design, accelerating the
design process, saving time and development costs, and increasing productivity.

11.1 How long have you been working for SOLIDWORKS? How did you
start?

Between Milliken & Co. and SOLIDWORKS, I spent two years in business
development roles for 3D Systems (rapid prototyping). In that role, I made new
friends at SOLIDWORKS and they offered me an opportunity in January of 2000. I
was one of the initial members of a team charged with working with global companies
– ultimately having the pleasure of working with Disney, NASA, Lockheed, Robert
Bosch NA, Michelin Tire, Nordsen Corporation and many others. It was rewarding to
see the joy of many engineers as they experienced 3D CAD with SolidWorks. We
were successful but I was never confused – I gave the credit to the software – our role
in business development was easy – enable good communication and let the engineer
make his choice.

11.2 Describe the SOLIDWORKS corporate culture, the way you see it
from your point of view.

Deep commitment to the user community. Seeing the world through the eyes of the
engineer. This is in the employee DNA. Overall, we are a family – albeit a big family
with more than 1,000 of the 11,500 DS employees worldwide. The SOLIDWORKS
brand carries a lot of responsibility with it today. Our products must meet high
standards for relevance, usability and cost. Everyone is watching us – the commitment
to deliver on the SOLIDWORKS brand promise has never been stronger.

37
SOLIDWORKS is such a great product that some people believe that is sells by itself.
Is there a difference you experience as a sales professional in selling SOLIDWORKS
products versus selling anything else?

I have always reminded my team that engineers are extremely capable and won’t
be ‘sold’ anything. Our job is to enable an environment of genuine learning such that
engineers are able to make a good decision. You are right, with great products the
focus can be on the customer and not on sales tactics. The best sales driver of
SOLIDWORKS continues to engineers telling other engineers. SOLIDWORKS
customer base can voice your opinions in how you favourite software evolves over the
coming years.
