Comments 1: Again , this trick is definitely for beginners.

An advanced
magician might want to perform it but I doubt it. It is based around
one move that is not hard. Enjoy!

Preparation: There is almost NO preparation for this

trick. All of it is done with one move. All you
need is one easy move and a grip (which is in the
sleight index at the end). You need one copper coin
and one silver coin. That is all.

The Move : The principle of this move is called ‘lapping’. Lapping , as you
might have already guessed , involves dropping an item (in this case a coin)
into your lap. The way I do this is as so :

Place the coin onto the table in front of you. Pick it up by using
the table. By this , I mean , slide the coin with your fingers
covering it , until you reach the edge of the table. Rest your
thumb on the edge of the table just below the coin. Use your
thumb as a scoop to pick up the coin. This may seem normal
enough but this is just to lure your audience into a false sense
of security. Do this move several times to show that there is
nothing fishy about your hands or the coin. When you want to
lap the coin , simply DON’T use your thumb as a scoop. Let the
coin slide off the table and into your lap.

If you keep your fingers in the same position as you were when you were
really holding the coin , the audience will be none the wiser. This is the
basic principle behind “Rub-A-Dub Change”.

The Color Changing: Now comes the complicated part. To start off ,
have the copper coin on the table and the silver coin , in your hand , in a
classic palm (See sleight index at bottom of page). Pick up the copper coin
and do a few “Fake Lapping” pickings up off the table. On the third pick
up , actually drop it into your lap using the method described earlier , and
turn your hand into a fist. You now have the silver coin in the palm of your
hand. Place your fist onto the table and start to rub the coin. Doing this
will release the coin from the classic palm position. Now rub the coin some
more , open up your fist to reveal that the coin has changed into a silver
one.
