Duane,
Thanks for trying to manage this situation without interrupting us, however, I disagree with your
direction to the Account Manager.
Effectively, you’ve created a ‘no go’ zone for security guards and that’s not on.
We must provide security patrols to all areas of campus – including toilets; particularly
so when there’s a 24/7 student hub upstairs.
Of course, we can’t have the patrol officers behaving in the manner that is alleged, however, we
should always interrupt public sex acts – no exception.
Let’s investigate the complaint allegation by all means, but, let’s not rush to create policy on the
run based upon a single complaint allegation (particularly when the change made goes against
our core business).
Please withdraw your instruction to the Account Manager asap and encourage appropriate
behaviours when undertaking these tasks.
Please contact the Facebook complainant and see what inculpatory evidence he can provide to
substantiate his claims.
You might copy Cheryl and I into any communications (with John and with the Facebook guy) re
same please.
Regards, Simon.

As a precaution I instructed John that pending review of this issue by yourselves he is to get a
message out to the teams today to cease any surveillance of this area that may have been
initiated. If a complaint is received relating to this issue they are to contact Management for
instructions before attending.
FYI I’m not aware of any instructions to the teams to actively surveil this area.
