EDUCATIONAL SETTING
TAGAYTAY CITY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
THE LINKAGE ESTABLISHMENT

Background/Profile of the Establishment

The Tagaytay City High School (TCHS), as it was then called by, was created

through the City Resolution No. 277 in 1956 by the initiative of the City Council headed by the

then Hon. Mayor Isaac O. Tolentino. The creation of the ever secondary school in the South

Cavite had its first building at Maharlika with the noble mission of catering quality education to

deserving students who cannot afford to go to prominent and far away schools in Manila and

elsewhere.

The school formally opened in SY 1956 – 1957 with only 314 students coming not only

from Tagaytay but also from neighboring towns of Alfonso, Amadeo, Mendez, Silang and as far

as towns of Batangas Province. Its maiden operation was under the supervision of the principal,

Mrs. Francisca M. Prosdigalidad along eight (8) faculty members.

As the school enrolment grows bigger, a lease contract was signed on October 31, 1969

between the city government and the Tourist Trader Travel Corporation to build a semi-Marcos

type building with (20) classrooms at Ipil St. Tagaytay. Towards 1970, the building was then

ready to accommodate an ever growing number of students.

In 1977, Mr. Farncisco M. Luna took over as principal when Mrs. Prodigalidad was

transferred to Camiguin Island for promotion. But Mr. Luna’s service was cut due to health
reason leading to his untimely demise. Mrs. Benita Jamir became the principal in 1979. When

she was promoted and transferred to Kawit, Cavite, Mrs. Francisca P. de Asis was designated

OIC and eventually became principal. During her time, rapid expansion of the school’s

infrastructure was realized through requests and donations. Under her tutelage and with rigid

supervision, academic achievement was maintained and proficiency was continuously raised.

Upon her retirement in 1992, Mrs. Maxima B. Magno assumed office and also it was this

year when the school was nationalized and renamed to what is now TCNHS or Tagaytay City

National High School. Numerous physical improvements were initiated with PTA assistance like

refurbishing the ground and the Project CRIER (Comfort Room in Every Room).

In 1996, a project proposal for constructing new school building was iniated by Mayor

Francis Tolentino. Its Construction was started in 2001 in its present site, Mayor’s Drive Mendez

Crossing East.

The administration, faculty and students of the second to fourth year levels transferred

after the inauguration of the first building in 2001. In April 2002, all buildings were completed

and ready to accommodate the school populace. With the increasing number of students, classes

had to be at 6 AM to 6 PM, alternate basis (MWF – TTHS).

When Mrs. Magno retired in 2002, Mrs. Anita T. Malabanan, Head Teacher III of English

took over as OIC. This was later succeeded by Mrs. Melenia A. Ambata who assumed office in

SY 2003 – 2004. Mrs. Malabanan was assigned OIC at the new established public school in

Tagaytay, Francisco Perez Tolentino Memorial High School (FPTMHS) located at Lagusan

Drive, Tagaytay City.

With her accomplishments, Mrs. Ambata was promoted Principal III and transferred to

Tanza Comprehensive National High School. Mrs. Anita M. Rom, from Indang National High
School, was then promoted to Principal II and transferred to TCNHS. The city government, with

Hon. Mayor Bambol Tolentino, constructed a new three-storey building with 39 classrooms on a

three hectare lot adjacent to the site. Now, the building is occupied by Grade Seven and Grade

Ten students.

In 2007, Mrs. Rom was promoted to Principal III and transferred to Trece Martirez City

National High School. Mr. Roberto A. Mendoza took over the position and manned 59 teaching,

14 non-teaching personnel and 18 LSB teachers. For two consecutive years, TCNHS has topped

the National Achievement Test (NAT) and students earned awards in the different division and

regional contests. Improvements in the physical facilities were evident, renovations of offices

were done, special rooms for all learning areas and reading centers were put up, gardens

transferred and landscaped and more proposed projects were lined up. Mr. Mendoza did a lot of

improvements in the school not to mention the promotion of teachers to higher positions. When

he retired on March 31, 2010, reaching mandatory age for retirement, Dr. Amado J. Tosco, ES I

– Science and Technology extended his services as OIC of the sch3221ool till December 31,

2010.

On January 3, 2011, Mrs. Aurora P. Chavez, Principal II of Kaytitinga National High

School in Alfonso transferred to TCNHS and was promoted to Principal III.

On September 18, 2013, Mrs. Emelina L. Barlao, the Principal III of Bagbag National

High School in Rosario replaced Mrs. Chavez as the new principal of TCNHS. She’s now

beginning some innovations and renovations in her new home.

TRC-Tagaytay.

This section includes the Background of the Institution, Location Map, Institutional

Mission and Vision, Organizational Structure and Functions of the DOH-TRC—Tagaytay.

Background/Profile of the Establishment

The DOH-TRC, Tagaytay City is the pioneer Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in

the Philippines which started from a humble beginning of 20 drug dependents and has grown

into a facility with a 500-Authorized Bed Capacity (ABC).

In 1965, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) allegedly received a donation of a

four-hectare lot located at 56 kilometer south of Manila, now known as Tagaytay City. The

NBI-TRC was created under Republic Act No. 6425 which constituted it as the nucleus of the

centers created, authorized or accredited by the Dangerous Drugs Board. From twenty (20)

drug dependents, it has grown into a complex treatment and rehabilitation center with an

Authorized Bed Capacity (ABC) of 300 client s. Its facilities include the administrative

building, six (6) client’s dormitories, seven (7) staff quarters, isolation room, disciplinary cell,
medical clinic, a staff commissary, pavilion, conference room and a multi-purpose hall. It was

then manned and supervised by fifty-eight (58) employees from different fields of expertise,

such as Medical Officers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Administrative Officers

and Staff, Dorm Managers, Maintenance staff and Security Officers.

Then, TRC implemented the Multi-disciplinary modality while embarking on the

eclectic approach of rehabilitation. Among the services it rendered were: medical care;

psychological evaluation and therapy; social services such as individual and group counseling,

spiritual renewal and values reformation; physical therapy through athletic activities and

calisthenics; and occupational therapy through its vocational services.

The Treatment and Rehabilitation Center is one of the major components of the NBI’s

organization structures. It is under the Office of the Director. TRC was headed by an

Administrator with a rank of Director II. He was supported by an Assistant Administrator with

the rank of Director I.

Since 1999, Therapeutic Community Modality had been adopted which views drug

addiction as a symptomatic manifestations of a more complex psychological problem rooted in

an interplay of emotional, social, physical and spiritual values. It is a highly structured program

wherein the community is utilized as the primary vehicle to foster behavioral and attitudinal

change. The client receives the information and the motivation to change as part of the

community. Role modeling and peer pressure play significant parts in the program. The goals

of every therapeutic community are to change the client’ self-destructive thinking and

behavioral pattern, teach them personal responsibility, create positive self-image, develop a

sense of human community and provide an environment in which human beings can grow and

take responsibility and credit for the growth.

In 2005, Section 1 of Executive Order No. 273 dated January 20, 2004 mandated that

the existing government drug treatment and rehabilitation centers (TRCs) in Tagaytay,

Cagayan De Oro and Cebu, along with the corresponding logistics (Maintenance Operating and

Other Expenses, Personnel Services and Equipment) are hereby transferred from the National

Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Philippine National Police (PNP) to the Department of

Health.

On April 1, 2005, the operation of all government drug treatment and rehabilitation

centers and program nationwide were transferred to the Department of Health, which shall be

responsible for overseeing, accreditation and monitoring of said rehabilitation centers.

By 2016, the DOH-TRC, Tagaytay City was manned by 120 employees. Its facilities

include the Administrative Division wing, Residential/ Inpatient Treatment Division wing,

seven (7) client’s dormitories, seven (7) staff quarters, three (3) infirmary rooms, medical and

dental clinic, clinical laboratory room, breastfeeding/ lactation room, a staff commissary,

pantry, pavilion, conference room, multi-purpose hall and covered court.

With President Duterte Administration’s campaign against drugs, together with the

DOH – Regional Office IV-A, the Center created a team of doctors, nurses, psychologists and

social workers to conduct drug advocacy programs to different Local Government Units

EDUCATIONAL SETTING

TAGAYTAY CITY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

DAILY JOURNAL

DAY 1: Wednesday (June 20, 2018)

It was a beautiful morning for me, I was nervous but I know that there are lot of new

things that I might learn and I can add those things to my knowledge. This was the first day for

my on the job training “OJT” with my co-students the BS Psychology students and they were

Ms. Anelie, Ms. Rochelle and Ms. Trisha. I chose Tagaytay City National High School as the

institution for the first setting Educational Psychology simply because I know that our trainor

Ms. Leah Magcaling and Sir Tobey Vida. The other reason why I chose this school was because

I came from this school, I graduated in this school and most importantly I’ve learned so much

things in this school which probably made me the man I’am today.

An orientation happened on our first day, the things which we must do and we shouldn’t

do while we’re on our ojt was tackled during the orientation. As well as the job description that

we need to do in 120 hours. Right after the said orientation we immediately do our jobs to update

the 201 files of the students and we also do the filing of the accomplishment report and the

affidavid of undertaking. The task of distributing the excuse letter for the students who were part

of the Tagaytay Festival was given to me.

Today was also my first time in counseling for a student from G9 a 16 year-old, I felt really

nervous because it was my very first time in counseling but somehow I felt so happy because the

Guidance Counselor trusted me to handle this kind of case.

I also talked to two grade9 students. In this case I found out that the feeling was really

different when you’re in the situation in doing the counseling. You’ll get tired but because you

wanted it and you’re happy while doing your job the tiredness will just blown away.

It was just my first day but because of the three counseling that I’ve done I felt that I

achieved something which has a big value.

DAY 2: Friday (June 22, 2018)

I woke up early in the morning and as I woke up there’s a big smile on my face because

I know that on this day there are lot of things that I might gather as I do my job.

At the school Sir Vida kindly asked us if who wants to do a counseling for a young girl

because the teachers were concern about her posts on her social media account at first I hesitated

because I thought that it was very complicated but I still do it to challenge myself also. The said

student was a Grade9 student. She’s pretty, she has a nice color of skin and she also has a beautiful

smile. At the first glance at her you wouldn’t have a clue that she has a problem. In the first part

of the counseling her tears suddenly fell down at her cheeks. I don’t know what to do because

I’m also hurt while I’m watching her crying I want to comfort her but I don’t want to disobey the

counselors ethics. I just let her cry until she’s ready to talk to me. The flow of the counseling was

good especially our conversation flows very smoothly. I found out that she has a deep wound in

her heart according to her story that’s why she can’t stop crying. I think she need someone who

would stand for her, the one who would listen to her problems. We even had an agreement that

we will talk again and on that time she must feel better.
On this day we also started to transfer the files of the Grade10 who currently studying as a

Senior High in the institution. We also disposed the files the files of the students who already

graduated so that we can transfer the files of the Grade7 students.

It was a tiring day but I learned another important lesson of counseling ethics which is you

shouldn’t have sympathy for the client and I’m looking forward for the next client. I’m more

motivated now in doing the counseling because I’m more confident now.

DAY 3: Monday (June 25, 2018)

New day, new learnings, I’m happy as I go to school. As I arrived at school we immediately

do the task given to us we transfer the G7 201 files in envelope. I also got the masterlist of the

different year level.

We checked the files of the students one by one. Today was also the start of our planning

for the incoming seminar, the topic that we generated was about the child of the OFW’s. That’s

why we checked again all the records of the students whose parent were at abroad.

Again it was a tiring day but it was very convenient especially when we’re working or

doing our jobs together.

DAY 4: Thursday (June 28, 2018)

I just arrived at the institution but early in the morning I was the one they teased out. Sir

Tobey, Ms. Chelle and Ms. Anelie kept on teasing me because I was absent for two days and they

were looking for something that I should bought for them like “pasalubong”. My day was great,
we put names on the envelopes. I somehow felt sleepy maybe because of lack of sleep but the

show must go on. I counseled the two repeater students of G9. Mr. Feranil stopped because of

her sister Ms. Suzzane Feranil who was my classmate before. He gave way so that her elder sister

can graduate. The other reason was because of the influence of his peers. While the other one

was Mr. Beltran he has a good and positive perspective in life and of course there are some things

that he regret yet there are some ways to make it up. He strive harder each day to earn for his

own living, he supports himself to attend school because there’s no one who would support him

and that’s the reason why he had to stop.

Just like in the past days I got tired and happy at same time because I can have a deep

conversation with some of the students.

DAY 5: Friday (June 29, 2018)

As the days go by I felt more comfortable doing my job in each day I grow as an individual

and in a short period of time I already gathered more information about counseling.

On this day, the fifth day of our training we’re all happy at the guidance because today was

the birthday of our GC III named Ms. Magcaling.

All throughout the day the given task to us was to only check who were incomplete in the

list and of course we made envelope for those who doesn’t have a file yet. We even assist the

guests and aside from that Sir Tobey taught us the proper way in disposing the papers of the old

students and we even prepared for the expected guest.

Today was such a great day I’ve learned that it’s really better if there’s someone who would

guide us before we do some actions and decision.

Day 6: Monday (July 2, 2018)

What a beautiful morning, today everyone was very busy inside the guidance and all

around the school, because there are expected evaluators who would visit the school. Sir Tobey

assigned me in posting and arranging the bulletin board and all of us helped one anothere in

cleaning.

This day seems to be a long day and today was also the first time of all the interns in home

room visits at G9-B. I’m very nervous during those time my brain was even blank all I know is

that I’m nervous and I almost forgot my topic.

My topic was “Importance of Education in Setting Life Goals”. I know I did my best but I

also know that my demo wasn’t good enough for them. Although they congratulated us for what

we did but there’s still lot of comments. I admit that I did something wrong because I’m really

nervous and I know that my home room visit wasn’t good at all.

At the end of the day I learned lot of things and I enjoyed teaching. Sir Tobey taught us the

right things to do whenever we’re speaking in front. I also realized that doing your job or task at

your very best was priceless.

DAY 7: Tuesday (July 3, 2018)

We go to school earlier than the usual time because we’re preparing for the G7 parents

orientation. We stand as the usherette for the half day parent orientation. The orientation is

important to parents because their children is new to the school. It is also important because there

is a change in the rules and regulations. And somehow it helped the parents on how their child

can adjust to school. It gives information and knowledge for the both side.

Today also the second day of my home room visit. I felt so nervous again but I know

somehow I’m prepared. I came in the class of G9-D it is advantage since they are also from

highest section but also a disadvantage because the students was noisy. I felt so disappointed at

first but in my when I’m talking to the front of them they are all listening to me. And they seems

they really understand what I am saying. At the end of my home room I know that I do much

better than my first home room visit.

DAY 8: Wednesday (July 4, 2018)

The day started so well, we attached the names in each envelope there are lot of it that we

must do and finish. Right after doing the attaching of names I started going room by room in the

assigned year level for me, I do the room by room process to verify if the information written in

the enrollment form was reliable. Some of the students were slightly irritating because they didn’t

fill up the form seriously the other things written on the form wasn’t true at all. We also became

an usherette again in an orderly orientation of the G9. It seems much better orientation because

we know what to do to control the students who took their break time.
Again Sir Tobey taught us how to encode the result of the NAT and after that we had a

meeting about our upcoming seminars.

Today I have learned that it’s really hard doing such things in the first time but you’ll

realize that you wouldn’t know that you can do different things if you wouldn’t try to do it in the

first place.

DAY 9: Thursday (July 5, 2018)

A gorgeous morning to start a day with a smile. Just like in the past eight days of my ojt I

feel so excited each morning as I woke up.

After fixing all the things and all the task which is need to be done on that day in the

guidance like cleaning, attaching the remaining names and fixing and arranging all the files. We

started encoding all the result if the National Achievement Test for Grade Six. We get the average

of more than 600 students of TC and we recorded it.

In the afternoon Ma’am Leah kindly guide and taught us how to do photocopying because

our next task was to photocopy the results of the NCAE of the students We even witness the

signing of the new set of rules and regulations which will be enforced in the institution. We

listened to the new sets of rules and regulations so we also aware in the regulations of the school.

Well, again it was tiring day but the most important thing was we will go home again with

a big smile on our face. And of course we learned so much in our OJt.

DAY 10: Friday (July 6, 2018)

It was supposed to be a normal day for me but I don’t know why I’m not comfortable this

day there’s something bothering me but I don’t what it is. What I know is just that I need to go

and do my job.

As I arrived at the school there were already tons of works that I must for this day. I was

shocked for a moment but I told to myself that I must do the given task to me with a smile on my

face so that I won’t get easily tired.

From the very first second of our duty for this day we didn’t do anything aside from

encoding the result of the National Achievement Test because what we did before wasn’t enough.

Ma’am taught and guide us again on how to arrange, fix and save some files. The whole

day we tried to finish encoding so that in the following days we can move on and focus on other

important things that we must learn and do.

At the end of this day while I was walking something comes to my mind then I realized

that I must learn how to embrace my job. I shouldn’t just love my job I must embrace and love it

at the same time. Because once we learn how to embrace and love our job we will never get tired

no matter how heavy the day could be because of the kind of work you had experienced in each

day.

The student enjoyed her talked specially the activities and the content. It was a good talked

indeed. The next talked is from the one of the best teachers in Tagaytay City National High

School.Ms. Samudio, she tackled about the Side of OFW parents. Her talked is one of the best

saw how their lives change when her husband chose to work abroad. The next talked was from

Ms. Anelie delos Reyes. Her talked is to give or to bridge the communication gap with the

INDUSTRIAL SETTING

IQOR PHILIPPINES SM DASMARINAS

DAILY JOURNAL

DAY 1: Thursday (August 30, 20218)

On the first day of my internship for industrial setting I felt so nervous since this is the

widest setting among the three setting. It is also a pressure for me because I passed the interview

with one of the largest company in the Philippines. I was shocked at that moment because I wasn't

expecting that I could make it. It is challenge for me because the company has an English only

polic. On the other side it was also an advantage for me because my communication skills will

be enhanced even more. Aside from that my self-esteem could possibly change into a better one.
I came early at the office because the office is too far from my home that's why I became

an early bird today. I already got a big challenge for today because the guard called all the

applicants at the pantry to fill up the form which is needed for the initial interview. Right after

we filled up the form they were ordered to go to the testing room for the flex which served as the

on line application at IQOR. Since it was our first day of internship we were introduced to all the

staff of recruitment team and they were Ms. Steph, Ms. Cla and Ms. Jude and the encoder was

Sir. JR, the guard was Kuya Jhe while the other interns were Jayson and Chevie from Tanza

Trade National High School and Meisy and Jan Mari from CvSU Silang Campus. All in all today

they only thought us all things that we should and should not do throughout the whole internship.

DAY 2: Friday (August 31, 2018)

Today is a normal day just like yesterday I woke up and came early at the office and we

called the applicants at the pantry for them to fill up the profile sheet. We also had few applicants

for today because it's Friday. I only had eight flex today and our boss gave us a task which is to

separate the old forms from the new one since 2016 up to this year. The old forms will be placed

in the boxes and we must arranged the box according to its year. Then the new forms were kept

in case it would be needed for some back up forms.

On this day I learned how to be more patient and dedicated for the tasks that were given

to me and I really had fun today.

DAY 3: Saturday (September 1, 2018)

On this day we came at the office earlier than the usual time because it's Saturday because

we were expecting that there would be only few applicants. We cleaned the office and we were
also taught how to photo copy some forms which needed for the interviews and for the

requirements if the applicants passed the interview. On the afternoon there's nothing left and

ordered for us to do then IQOR Robinson's borrowed me and my co-intern because they don't

have a data encoder. We were nervous on that moment because it was our first time to duty at

IQOR Rob. We also got shocked because we did not expected that the IQOR Robinson is holding

a bigger account. To sum it all up I learned how to encode the datas of the applicants.

DAY 4: Monday (September 3, 2018

It was a brand new day because we expected that there would be lots of applicants and

yes it is. I also accomplished twenty two on line application for today and I finished three NQ it

is the process wherein the applicants failed in their initial interview then we are the one who

would tell them the result of their initial interview. It is quite difficult for me because it is really

heartbreaking to tell them that unfortunately they didn't make it to the next level. I was also

assigned to give typing test for those who passed the initial interview. There are two types of

typing test and the first one is called the space cowboy wherein the applicant really failed with

the conducted interview then the other one is the aerosoft wherein the applicant truly passed the

interview.

DAY 5: Tuesday (September 4, 2018)

already have one.

DAY 7: Thursday (September 6, 2018)

On this day one of my supervisor asked me if alreadh know how to QFIT. She orderd

someone who would help me to practice and learn how to do QFIT since it was my seventh day

staying there. QFIT was an online interview wherein the applicant for the final interview

answered some questions, it also a way for them to have an account at IQOR. Today I

accomplished eight flex and one QFIT and it isa big achievement for me. Today I learned that it

is not totally bad to learn and experience new things.

DAY 8: Friday (September 7, 2018)

On the eighth day of my internship I was assigned at the testing room with my co-intern

Chevie. We were the one who would give the typing test, QFIT and the online application for the
applicants. We stayed at the testing room for the whole day waiting for another task to do. I've

done Twenty six online application, five QFIT and typing test.

I learned that in each day at work you can't tell what will happen and all you need to do

is just wait and be ready as always.

DAY 9: Monday (September 10, 2018)

Today I'm assigned again at the testing room. I was ordered to sort the files as well as the

result of the laboratories of the applicants. After that my boss asked to look for some lost files.

It somehow the same day as yesterday but it is quite different as well because not

everything happened yesterday happened today.

clean the area as well as to entertain the applicant’s one of my task today is to bring the applicants

to the interview room.

Just like yesterday I was assigned at the lobby area and just like in the past days I'am the

one who gives the profile sheet to the applicants. I'am also the one who was assigned to clean the

area as well as to entertain the applicants. One of my task today is to bring the applicants to the

interview room. But today I accomplished three NQ.

DAY 12: Friday (September 14, 2018)

Just like in the past two days. It was good day because I was assigned at the lobby area

today is to bring the applicants to the interview room. Today I also got an order which is to

photocopy some forms.

DAY 13: Monday (September 17, 2018)

Today is a very tiring day because I became a runner who would do all the different tasks.

I even accompanied the applicants to their designated department/account. It is very challenging

for me because it was my first time to experience this kind of work. All in all I've learned that

you should do your very best in each kind of task given to you.

DAY 14: Tuesday (September 18, 2018)

Today is my second to the last day but still it is a very tiring day because I became a

runner who would do all the different tasks. I even accompanied the applicants to their designated

this kind of work. Aside from that I've also done five NQ.

DAY 15: Wednesday (September 19, 2018)

Today was my last day at IQOR Philippines and I can't explain my emotions. I came late

at the office because I bought some foods for our meal at lunch which serves as a thanksgiving

for the learnings and everything. To sum it all up I really had a great experience at IQOR

Philippines, I can say that it was really a good decision that we choose the IQOR Philippines to
be part of my internship. A big thanks for all the people who have been there to support, guide

and enhance me as a newby in this industry. It is a privilege to be part of the recruitment team.

Me and my co-intern ate together as we celebrated our last day of staying at work and we really

enjoyed each others company since day one. I hope that someday I can show those people who

helped me all throughout my journey that I can make it to the top.
