Presentation Activity
On the board, write the difficult words to be unlocked:
bug-at sa tiyan
gisaw-an

Use each word in a sentence and let the pupils guess the meaning
of each word or phrase. After each, they are to construct their own
sentences using these words.
Analysis
From the video presented and the words or phrase shown, ask the
pupils on their ideas on what the story is all about. Also, ask them
on what they expect to happen in the story.

Abstraction
Present the title “Biko” on the board.

Introduce the concept of main idea. Before reading the story, give
them the question “What is the story all about?”.

Practice Application
Distribute copies to the class. Allow the pupils to read in pairs and
when they’re done reading, do the echo reading.

In doing the echo reading, observe proper intonation and


expression. Likewise, ask questions from time to time.

Assessment
1. How do you find the story that we have just read?
2. What do you think is the story all about?
3. What are the other details about biko?

Read again the story entitled “Biko”. This time, do the choral
reading.

Analysis
1. Unsa man ang inyong o imong gamiton sa paghimo og
biko?
2. Unsa may gikasulti sa batang babaye mahitungod sa biko?
3. Kinsa ang kauban sa bata nga nagkaon og biko?
4. Nakakaon na ba ka og biko?
5. Isulti ang paborito ninyong pagkaon. Hinimo ba kini sa
unsa? Nganong ganahan man ka niini? Kanus-a man ka
nakakaon niini?
6. Nag-inusara ba kang nagkaon o kauban ka sa imong
pamilya o mga higala? Unsa may imong ganahan? Ngano
man?
7. Unsa pa man ang mga makalingaw nga mga butang nga
imong gibuhat uban ang imong pamilya o mga higala?

Abstraction
What is the main idea of the story?

Introduce the concepts of whole, half and parts.

Practice Application
Show a paper to the class – round, square, rectangular, etc.
Demonstrate how to cut in halves and into parts. Let the pupils do
the same activity using the colored papers, scissors and glue they
bring.

Assessment
Follow these instructions:

1. Draw a biko.
2. Divide the biko in half.
3. Set aside the first half.
4. Divide evenly the other half of the biko into four parts.
5. Give one to each four friend you have by pasting their shares above their
name.

Tell everyone to read the words found on the board.
