Città di Castello - Famila offers its customers a new and quick way of shopping: self-
shopping. The service, called "Velocispesa" is the result of a collaboration between
Datalogic Mobile EBS, which supplies the JoyaTM pod, and CamìTM, which has
equipped the pod with Camì SScanTM software.
Assuring real-time reading of the purchase value and elimination of wait time at
checkout, Velocispesa provides a completely new shopping experience at the store.
This service was welcomed with enthusiasm by customers, even those less
accustomed to new technologies. It will help to navigate easily among the 13,000
products of the store (spread over on 1500 square meters and having 6 counters).
Shopping, thus, becomes more pleasant: the customer reads product bar codes with
Joya and packs the goods directly, while the price and number of purchases are
shown on the display, as well as product information, discounts and offers for the
holders of the Famila Selex loyalty card, the balance of loyalty points and the total
value of the purchase.
Then, the customer must simply deliver Joya to the counter operator who will issue a
receipt, with a significant reduction in wait time.
Cami Sscan self-scanning application uses the same software application installed on
the cash register server. The application on Joya is developed in C language.
This architecture permits Joya to have the same promotional engine, net prices and
receipt totals for the purchase limits, basket and special fidelity offers. In addition to
Joya, this innovative architecture manages orders, inventory and price control.
"The Velocispesa service ensures appropriate responses to the customers," said Luigi
Frison, Business Development and Marketing Manager at Datalogic Mobile EBS. "In
fact, Velocispesa is a tool that allows Selex to put the customer in the spotlight,
together with his/her expectations and needs. It also saves customers’ time while
ensuring a pleasant shopping experience."
The partnership between Datalogic and Cami is just a further confirmation of Joya’s
versatility, which allows retailers to choose self-scanning software that is closer to
their needs. Datalogic, in fact, can provide Joya together as a complete
Shopevolution solution or integrated into a partner’s self-scanning solution, in order
to enable the creation of a personalized tool according to individual features,
designed specifically for its customers.
