PPRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To help you organise your thinking as you watch a film

First response
1. How did the film make you feel?
What aspects worked well, and which didn’t (think about writing, direction,
cinematography, acting, editing and soundtrack)?

 The film make me happy, cry , sad and proud. the aspect that worked well is
the writing, direction, cinematography, editing and soundtract while acting is
the one which didn't worked well because i recognize one artist who didn't act
very well it's just my opinion and it's how i see his acting.

2. To what extent did it fit with your expectations, or did it subvert them in some ways?

 For me the movie really meet my expectations because i become very

emotional and I also expressed different feelings when I was watching it. Then
I saw how the mother love his child which I always envy.

Structure
3. What causes the major turning points in the narrative come?
 The major turning points that is when the protagonist move to other school
and he really can’t understand letters and numbers his is so sad that time and
no one recognize that he has a dyslexia.

4. Does the world of the film work like the real world? If not, what are the differences?

 Yes. It has a similarities to our real world because for me even I don’t know a
person who had dyslexia I believe even we don’t have disorder we still
experience discrimination from the other people who didn’t understand us.
5. How does the film end? Is everything resolved? How? If not, why not?

 The film end when the protagonist overcome his learning disorder ( dyslexia )
by the help of his teacher who also experience a dyslexia when he still young
like the protagonist.

Characters
6. How would you describe the main characters? What are their goals? What problems
do they face?

 I’ll described the protagonist as a very good at acting he act like an adult and
he can make our heart melt by his acting. Their goal is to improve the
knowledge of the protagonist. Their problem is when the protagonist didn’t
listen to all of his teacher and he didn’t smile at all even in making of friends.
Also he think that he didn’t love of his own family.

7. What choices do the characters make? What motivates them? What are the
consequences?

 The teacher make a choice when he is talking to the school president to give
Ishaan a second chance and he is willing to give Ishaan more time to teach
him. A teacher was motivated because he see his own self to Ishaan when he
still a kid also suffering dyslexia a learning disorder. The consequence is when
Ishaan will not improve and can make more problem the teacher will be
resigned and surrendered his license as a teacher and never teach again.

8. What do the main characters learn about themselves, and how do they change?

 I think Ishaan learn by the help of others who also experience the same
disorder as Ishaan and also Teacher Ram talked to Ishaan’s family about his
condition that their son is suffering a learning disorder which is called
dyslexia.

9. Whose point of view does the camera represent?

 As a student I think the camera focuses about the ability of each individual
who suffering in learning disorder and how they should overcome it.

10. How is our attention drawn to particular images? How are particular visual elements
used as symbols or metaphors?
 Sometimes there’s an image that really catch my attention like the painting of
Ishaan he paint what he see and feel. Also his flipping notebook it show’s
what is his situation.

11. How does the film’s editing contribute to the meaning of the film?

 Even Ishaan is suffering in his learning disorder we can see that his mind is
very imaginative and colorful we can see it in the film in the scenes how he
imagine the fish on her mind. Also he is very joyful kid even he don’t have a
lot of friends

12. How does the film handle the underlying themes (morality, politics, religion,
sexuality, happiness, freedom, love, spirituality, identity, etc.)?

 We can see happiness and love on this film. We can see the happiness and
love of Ishaan’s family and Teacher Ram who believed in Ishaan that he can
overcome the dyslexia and also how Teacher Ram pays attention to Ishaan just
to make sure that Ishaan can learned and improved his knowledge.

13. Are there are religious themes or connections? How is faith treated (if at all)?

 For me I think there’s no religious matter happened in this film because the
film just expressed and show how Ishaan overcome from dyslexia and how his
artistic his mind is.

Worldviews
14. What is the view of reality? Is there any place for God or other spiritual dimensions to
life? Is impersonal fate used as a substitute for God?

 I think God make a way to help Ishaan by the Help of Teacher Ram who told
Ishaan’s family about his condition. Also Teacher Ram came in the scene
when nobody’s understand Ishaan.

15. What is the view of humanity? What does the film say about the nature of human
beings? What does the film say about communities and families?

 The view of humanity in this film is the people around Ishaan who easily
judge him even his father. For example the terror teacher of Ishaan on his new
school.

16. How is the image of God within human beings seen in this film? How is human
rebellion against God expressed?
 I think God use Teacher Ram as the guide to teach Ishaan to overcome his
learning disorder. It has a meaning why Teacher Ram came on that school.

17. What is the view of knowledge? How do characters know what is true (experience,
logic, intuition or revelation)? How do they make decisions? Where do they find

thinking why Ishaan is like that he asked his classmates and also his co –
teacher then he finds out that Ishaan is have a learning disorder which called

19. What do human beings most need in life? Does the film identify any universal
problems confronting human beings? What do humans need in order to flourish? What
does it see as the point of life? What substitutes for God are there in the film?

 All of us need to centered God in our life and we should understand every
individual specially to people who had a disorder because they made by God a
very special people.
