BSED MATH 4A
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.
Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education" by Martin Luther king jr. This
formula influenced me when it comes to building my own philosopy of education. But, there
exist a multitude of challenges for me to do this since it takes courage and perseverance to
accomplish such goal for my students. Helping them to prosper their mind wasn't good enough
to succeed but they must also develop their character and how these ideas will be able to help
them to apply, to invent, and discover new things that are essential in their life.
Mathematics, the queen of sciences , throughout centuries has become one of the
most important subject. Indeed, in a typical classroom become the most terrifying and hated
subject for some students. For various reasons, they find it uncomprehending and complicated.
A great challenge is emerging when it comes to teaching them how to appreciate and open
their eyes to see the beauty of Mathemtics. In fact, the essense of this subject is not to make
simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple for as many regards it as the
language of the universe, the key to understand very complicated things in our word and
beyond. I want to build an environment where all students are helping each other and to step
out the boundary of the technicality of each concepts. I will talks a lot about the beauty of these
patterns through trivias and tried to connect our lessons to real world application. I want for
every student to build a positive attitude towards Math by teaching them not to give up easily
and to persevere. I do believe that this is the very first step to succeed teaching them my about
my subject. By the time where they have already possessed a positive outlook towards it, then
the acquisition of the content knowledge will follows. Intelligence + character = true education.
If I succeed, I want to develop students that are intelligent and possed a good
character. Once Einstein said, "Try not to become a man of success rather, try to become a man
of value. "
