Residences in Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur are asking for help to save the trees from cutting
down for the road widening that is ruled by DPWH. From the side of DPWH, their intention to cut the
trees is not to destroy but to protect people from accidents that caused by those big trees which are
acacias and mahoganies. On the other side of people who don't want trees to be cut, they want them to
be preserved because aside from they give a lot of help to them in agricultural relations, they also serve
as the landmark of their place, they welcome the people who pass there and they treat them as their
only precious treasure. So, we can see that it is a war over preservation versus modernization.
Preservation is preserving a place as it is in the present. It assumes that all historic features, materials,
etc. will be kept where its humanity possible to restore or repair them and will be maintained as they
are in the future. Modernization is the transportation from a traditional rural, agrarian society to a
secular urban, industrial society. It is a continuous and open-ended process. We should take sides in the
longstanding battles over desire to preserve versus the need to modernize cities. So, how best should
cities cater for economic and population growth? And to what extent should we protect existing
buildings, spaces and places, which may view as essential to 'authentic' city life and for creating a sense
of belonging and connection to place?

Why can't we realize that the Earth is slowly declining? Preservation must be served rather than
Modernization. Yes, both give betterment, but we should always remember that Preservation comes
with respect to God's creation. We should also consider the creatures that benefit from the trees- not
just our own sake. We should keep in mind that cutting trees on the road is not the solution to traffic.
Seek for more solutions that don't harm the ecosystem. We should be thankful that we are abundant
with natural resources. We should preserve them because other countries lack of them. They are
longing of having trees on the sideways but they don't have them. At the end of the day, if we abused

the natural resources, we will soon pay for the things we did. Are we going to wait for that time to
come? Remember that regression comes at last.

When you hear the word "environment", the word “problem” also comes to our mind. The level
of interest people give to our environment varies. Some are conserving energy, some are concerned
about the problem that t environment are facing and some will just neglect it. We are surrounded by
Life and Nature – we affect it and it affects us. This is our environment. The environment is the sum total
of what is around something or someone, which includes living things and natural forces. The
environment of living things provides conditions for development and growth as well as of danger and
damage (kidsconnect,2018). Lately, some residences in Molave, Zamboanga del Sur are asking for help
to save the trees from cutting down for the road widening. It is indeed that we need to save the trees
because we need these for us to survive. If we will continue cutting trees more than 700 million people
around the world will not have access to clean water because of pollution and sanitation problems that
may occur if we abused our environment.
