Introduction
Nowadays, wood is a valuable resource for us to utilize and propagate for
the better development of the community. Still wood is a kind of resource which is
much likely renewable but easy to lose its sole purpose to be a solid structure that
is flexible in every ways in terms of its usage but due to factors that affects the
structural composition of wood such as fire, bacterial degradation, insects such as
Termites or “anay” and these determining factors mainly influence to physical
properties of wood therefore denying its effective use. Due to this events, filler is
introduced. Fillers are particles added to the material itself to serve as a mixture to
the material to regain its original structure. This study aims to generate an
alternative filler for the cracks and depression produced by determining factors as
stated which highly affects the physical structure of the wood which effectively help
the material regains its former composition.

Background of the study

Eggshells are simply trash, but to homesteader, eggshells are a surprisingly

useful resource. Researchers at The Ohio State University have discovered that
food waste, specifically tomato peels and eggshells, makes excellent filler for
rubber tires, with tests showing they exceed industrial standards for performance.
Filler is combined with rubber to make the rubber composite used in tires. Food
waste could partially replace carbon black, the petroleum-based filler long used in
tire manufacturing, which has become increasingly hard to come by.

This fact encouraged the researcher to find out if the eggshells is effective
as alternative wood filler.
Statement of the Problem

 This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of egg shells as alternative
wood filler.

 This study also aimed to answer the following questions:

1. Is egg shells effective in making alternative wood filler?
2. Is egg shells suitable in making alternative wood filler?
3. Is there a significant difference between a wood filler out of egg shells and
a commercial one in terms of the following:
a. Effectiveness
b. Durability
c. Odor
Hypothesis
 This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of egg shells as alternative
wood filler.
 This study also aimed to answer the following questions:
1. Egg shells is not effective in making alternative wood filler.
2. Egg shells is not suitable in making alternative wood filler.
3. There is no significant difference between a wood filler out of egg shells
and a commercial one in terms of the following:
a. Effectiveness
b. Durability
c. Odor

Scope and Delimitations.

 This study utilized eggshells as alternative wood filler
 This study using eggshells was conducted to identify the other alternative
wood filler.

Definition of Terms
 Filler - a thing put in a space or container to fill it.
 Wood filler - Wood putty, also called plastic wood, is a substance used to
fill imperfections, such as nail holes, in wood prior to finishing. It is often
composed of wood dust combined with a binder that dries and a diluent
(thinner), and, sometimes, pigment.
 Eggshells - the thin, hard outer layer of an egg, especially a hen's egg.
Methodology

Introduction

The method used in this study was the experimental method of research.
The purpose is to study the characteristics of wood filler out of eggshells.

Research Design

This study utilized the survey in order to achieve the purpose of this study
– which is to determine the effectiveness of egg shells as wood Filler.

The researchers used their survey as their instrument. Based on the result
of the survey conducted, they were able to determine the details of this study.

Materials
(Independent)

 1⁄4 − 1⁄2 cup of (ZOY) paste

 3 Containers
(Control Variable)
 1 𝑐𝑢𝑝 𝑜𝑓 Crushed Egg shells
Procedure
1. Gather all the materials.

2. Crush the Egg shells measuring exactly 1 cup.

3. (ZOY PASTE) Mix the 1⁄2 cup of glue and 1⁄2 cup of water.

4. Mix the 1⁄4 − 1⁄2 (ZOY) paste in 1⁄2 cup of crushed egg shells with the
varying amount of (ZOY) paste.

5. Apply and Test on wood holes.

Results and Discussion
In this chapter, data are presented to show changes after the conduct of the
experiment. These data shows the effectiveness of egg shells as alternative wood
filler.

Each test has the same amount of egg shells but varies in the amount of (ZOY)
paste.

Analysis of data
These data shows that, wood filler #1 is sticky and durable than wood filler
#2. Wood filler out of egg shells has served as a filler and able to fill wood holes.
It turned out that the wood filler out of egg shells is effective.
Conclusion
The conducted experiment with the proposal study of the effectiveness of
the of Egg Shells as Alternative Wood Filler shows that the Wood filler out of egg
shells has serve as a filler, compacted a few pieces of wood, able to fill up wood
holes, furniture is usable and the bad odor is not present. These results and data
gathered showed that Wood filler out of egg shells is effective.
Recommendations
The recommendation of the conducted study establishes suggestions and
connectivity for related researches regarding wood fillers, researches regarding
wood issues, and mostly other functions of the egg shells. The suggestions follow:
1.) The researcher(s) must check properly and identify the specimen and
the materials they will utilize and observe. Changes and differences will
greatly affect the whole study and can alter the progress of the research.
2.) Due to the impending development in the field of industry and
technology, several recyclable materials are disregarded than the use
of formulated filler products. Natural sources of wood filler can be difficult
to find, especially the use of recyclable materials and egg white. Still, the
researcher(s) should be a great help in making an alternative for a
commercial one.
3.) Because of its properties, egg shells opens up for many studies. The
studies will be more approachable and open up to more publicity if it
conducts something that egg shells will be more reachable not just being
a trash but also for other properties it has.
4.) The researcher(s) can identify and point out the errors in the study and
should clarify, justify, and resolve with a greater approachable concept
that will help improve the progress and stand of the study.
5.) If the research design is experimental approach, the researcher(s) must
carefully and properly observe the changes and differences in their
conducted study. In the descriptive approach, researcher(s) can seek
guidance and answers in many references and sources.
