Baseline Plus Switch 2900 Gigabit Family - 2920, 2928, 2928 PWR, 2928 HPWR, 2952
Issue
User has lost the password for admin account
Recover lost password
Console login password loss
Cause
Switch user does not know/forgot the administration password set on the Web and Console interface.
Resolution
Method 1:
Find another user with Administration access and have them modify the user password to a
temporary password for the user having trouble in accessing the switch.
A user with a Super User access can also perform this change. For that login with the Super
Password which allows you to configure a password for a lower-level user to switch from the
current access level to the management level.
Method 2:
1. Connect the console port on the switch to a terminal (like laptop) with the console cable
(DB-9 to RJ-45 connector).
2. Use terminal emulator (like hyperterminal) with following required terminal settings:
• Set Bits per second - 38400
• Data bits - 8
• Parity - None
• Stop bits - 1
• Flow control - None
• Emulation set - VT100 (for XP)
3. Reboot the switch by cycling the mains power supply to the switch.
4. Press Ctrl + B at the prompt (as shown below) within one second to break the boot-up sequence
and to access the Boot menu.
