The Five-Year Career Plan is designed to help you develop skills in your current job or
to prepare for your next job. Your five-year plan is very much an individual and
personal plan, and is designed to facilitate your growth, development and advancement.
Always use the SMART model when setting goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable,
Realistic and within a specific Timeframe.
My Long-Term Goal: I have come to the conclusion that I would like to work within HR,
maybe become an HR Officer.
In my 5th year, I would have liked to have graduated University with the
Year Five best grade in Human Resource Management. while I am working towards
graduating, I would like to make sure that I have a suitable job lined up to
make sure that once I have finished University, I can jump straight into a
job that will help me to progress and become a really good Human
Resource Officer. If I have undergone the route of an Apprenticeship, I
would have liked to make sure that I am still working in the same
company as some apprenticeships can take up to 6 years.
I know that the people around me will be able to help me reach my goals because when
I am on my sandwich year or doing my apprenticeship, I will be able to shadow the
people that are doing the jobs that I want to be doing. This will help to ensure that I am
getting the experience I need.
If I am at University, I know that the other people on my course would be able to help me
with the exams and assignments that I will have to face. As well as this, the tutors and
lecturers would be able to ensure that I am gaining answers to any queries I may have.
Friends and family will also be able to help me by sharing their person experiences with
me so that I can learn from their mistakes.
