Installing Xerox Electronic Service Documentation (EDOC) USB or Hard Drive -

using the Xerox EDOC Manager (v1.0.21)


This EDOC uses the Xerox EDOC Manager to install, uninstall and upgrade EDOC books on your computer.
When you install the desired books, you will be subscribed to the corresponding Eureka sources and will be able
to keep your EDOC current by using the BUS to check for updates.

EDOC Manager v1.0.21 is delivered on a USB Key as a kit (P/N: 702S01496). 153 EDOC books are
supported for currently launched products as of the master date. The EDOC content on each folder is defined
as follows:

• _Edoc_Manager folder includes all new and updated EDOC

• _Edoc_Exceptions folder includes individual install from dedicated folder.

Using this _Edoc_Manager folder you can: Using this _Edoc_Manager folder you cannot:

Important Installation Information


• You can install, uninstall and upgrade multiple EDOC books at one time. Simply check ALL the books you
want to work with before you click on NEXT.
• You do not have to reboot after installing, upgrading, or uninstalling EDOC.
• The Xerox EDOC Manager does not add EDOC books to Add/Remove Programs in Windows. You must
use the EDOC Manager on this _Edoc_Manager folder to install, uninstall or upgrade EDOC.

• Product information (e.g., customer documentation, P of O, notes, etc.) is available, by product family, in the
Supplemental folder on each _Edoc_Manager folder. The information can be copied to your computer or
accessed from the USB Key.

• This _Edoc_Manager folder will not install PWS Diagnostic Tools on your computer. Tool installation must
be managed separately.

Prerequisites
To use this _Edoc_Manager folder you must:
• have a USB port on your computer
• be running GSN Release 11.x (Win7) software

Install the Vector Graphics viewer (Adobe SVG Viewer 3.0)


1. From the EDOC Manager folder, double-click on the file ‘SVGViewer.bat’. This will install the Adobe SVG
viewer and associated files required to view figures in Vector graphics format in several of the EDOC
books. This install need only be completed once on your computer – preferably the very first time you run
the EDOC Manager.

Use the EDOC Installer


You can use the Xerox EDOC Manager to install, uninstall and upgrade multiple books at one time.

1. Place the EDOC Manager USB Key in your USB port. When the USB Key is detected window opens,
double-click on the folder _Edoc_Manager and double click the file ‘EDOCManager.exe’. When the
Installer launches you may be prompted to close BUS Station and Internet Explorer. Click OK, then select
the EDOC to install, update or uninstall.

2. The EDOC Manager window will display a list of all books available for installation or upgrade on the left,
and the books currently installed on your computer on the right – all in alpha-numeric order.

3. To install a book, scroll through the list on the left and select it. NOTE: If upgrades to installed books are
available, they will be selected automatically. The old version will automatically be selected to uninstall. If
you do not want to upgrade, uncheck the book in BOTH sides of the window.

4. To uninstall a book, scroll through the list of installed EDOC shown on the right and select the book.

5. When you have finished making your selections click NEXT. The installer will check your hard drive for free
space. If you do not have enough space, you will have to uninstall additional books or reduce the number of
books you want to install.

6. The ‘Actions to be performed’ screen will show you the list of books that will be installed, uninstalled and
upgraded.

7. Click NEXT to proceed or BACK to return to the previous screen and change your selections. The Copying
window displays the progress of your chosen operations. You can use the CANCEL button to stop the
installation. See Abort the Install below.

8. When the ‘Processing Complete’ – click FINISH.

Abort the Install
You can abort the installation of a book during processing.

1. Click on CANCEL in the Copying window while the book is being installed. Processing will stop and the
book install will be incomplete.

2. Aborting the EDOC install will result in, (1) an empty channel in the Service Documentation category of your
GSN browser Table of Contents pane, (2) the product folder added to Your Products and, (3) no BUS
subscription.

3. To properly install or uninstall this book, simply follow the instructions in Use the EDOC Installer.

4. The Cancel function only affects the book that is currently being processed. If you have selected multiple
books for processing, you must click CANCEL as each book is processed to stop installation.

5. Books fully processed before you CANCEL will be successfully installed, uninstalled or upgraded. Install
processing is viewable within the ‘Processing the requests’ section of the ‘Actions to be performed’ screen.
