Q.1. Position Description


My current position is of the Assistant Manager at CaterCalls, which is one of the leading
catering companies in Melbourne. My role is responsible for managing operational functions to
ensure specific orders are delivered efficiently with excellent customer service and quality
delivery. Moreover, I also look after the setting, communicating and maintaining timelines and
priorities of every order. I also look after employment and training of staff.

Organisational Policies: Discipline, Anti-racism, Anti-discrimination, Performance Reward.

1. Increase the number of customers.

2. Increase the revenue of the company.

3. Decrease cost of production by avoiding wastage of products.

4. Seek opportunities to advertise the company.

Journal

I am currently working on plans for boosting company’s demand and build excellent
relationships with the clients. The business plan is to increase the marketing by investing in
advertisements, to increase the number of customer. The company’s is dedicated in meeting
the customer's needs and provide quality service. The goal set in the above plan will help
towards attaining organizational goals and targets. The process of preparing the food for the
trays needs to be reviewed to prevent wastage of resources which will help in reduced cost of
production, hence boosting revenue. The goals are set through SMART criteria, which indicate
they are specific, measurable, attainable and realistic. My strength is effective communication
skills and leadership skills which has helped me in building good relationship within the
company. Also these skills have helped me in building good relationship with the customer.
Personal goal setting is highly important as it allows to evaluate your own strengths and
weaknesses. This way you can work on the ways to improve on those areas, which will help you
make better at your position and also enhance company’s work culture.

b) Maintain performance under varying conditions

There are a number of ways to maintain performance. One is to identify my current skills,
personal quality and ability and enhance my skills by overcoming weaknesses. Other ways
include hiring people who have a mix of skills so that in any case absence, performance is not
affected. All the work targets should be completed without pressure within the timeframes.

c) Minimise the peroanl traits effect

Peronal traits or weakness should not affect my performance at work. Firstly, at the workplace,
I should try to be as professional as I can and not let any of my weakness to interfere in my role.
Secondly, I should evaluate and overcome the weaknesses.

Q.5. a) Serve as a positive role model


The best way to serve as a role model at workplace is to either have a clear, defined and
organised work method and interact successfully with colleagues at all levels. For example a
good role model will always organise his work by setting goals, managing time effectively and
sharing his personal experience with others, he will also encourage them.

b) Maintain balance, stress and health

The best way to maintain work life balance is not to work for a duration that does not allow
comfortable working. By doing this, stess can be managed because if the worker is not happily
working or does not have a good relationship with co-workers at the workplace, it leads to
stress. Maintaining a positive attitude towards yourself, your role and others is an effective way
to avoid stress, and will lead to good health.

2. Meeting Notes
To assess my performance, I met with the kitchen staff and supervisor of CaterCalls. During the
meeting certain questions were asked to them to identify the key skills which have improved
my performance at the workplace. The staff provided the information that the more effort
needs to be made to communicate with the them in a constructive manner to lead them in the
effective way. After meeting with the supervisor, it was identified that there is always delay in
delivering the services on time which is affecting the demand of the services and creating
negative image in the mind of the customer.

3. Journal
It is important to identify my current skills, personal qualities and abilities which help in building
good relationships among the staff and the clients of the company. Assessing my own
performance will help in identifying the weakness and the effort to improve them. During my
meeting with the staff and supervisor, I found out that I lacked some sort of communication
skills. That is why, I included communication skills in the Professional Development Plan. The
networking activities that were needed to be taken are to go to an advertising company. I was
finding out lately that there are not many people who are aware of CaterCalls. Hence, the
activity of advertising company and social media will prove beneficial towards making
CaterCalls famous.The professional development plan has helped me in removing the weakness
which was affecting my performance at the workplace. The plan will help in developing the key
skills which will increase my performance and helps in serving the customer in the best way.
The duration of the plan will help in developing effective communication skills which will help in
building good relationship with the other employees and serve the customer in better
way. Improvement in my skills align to the company’s goals of better customer service
everyday. This improvement will make me efficient at performing my role in a positive way.
