ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The success and final outcome of this project required a lot of guidance and
assistance from many people and we all extremely privileged to have got this along the
completion of our project. All that we have done and it only due to such supervision and
assistance and we would like not forget to thanks to them because give cooperation towards
our project.

We would like to pay special thankfulness, warmth, and appreciation to our family
member and friends who completely help us through discussion and conversation that
encourage us to produce new ideas for this project. Without whom, we were nothing. They
not only assist us financially, but also extended their support and emotionally.

We own our deep gratitude to our project guide to Madam Sarahiza binti Mohmad
who took keen interest on our project work and guided us all along, till the completion of our
project work by providing all the necessary information for developing a good system.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of study

Due the popularity of obsession in beauty nowadays is makes our society be in


disquiet situations. It is because beauty has always been one of society great obsessions.
Since the Ancient Greeks, humans have struggled with an overvaluation of aesthetic appeal.
In today’s media saturated world where we are bombarded by images what we should look
like and what we fail to look like, it is worse than ever. In addition of our world have a lot of
company that sell the beauty thing even it good for health and vice versa.

On a scientific level, it can be argued that there is an evolutionary reason behind our
preference for attracted to them in order to give our offspring the best chances of living and
continuing the species. However, the extremes to which we have taken the idea of beauty
and the exclusivity of the features which we deem beautiful today are a far cry from traits
which carry inherent evolutionary benefit. Conversely, they are having a huge and harmful
effect particularly on girls, women and even its included man also in nowadays.

Especially for women, the emphasis on physical attractiveness is detrimental to


mental and sometimes by extension, physical health. The effects of the media on young
girls’ development has been well documented and has led to a rise in eating disorders, low
esteem, depression and many more. A much insidious side effect is our own unwitting
digestion of the idea of beauty as a woman’s single most defining features. Recent examples
in pop culture of the extent to which we’ve assimilated this message into our underlying
estimation of a person’s worth are both striking and disturbing. So, the student of
International Islamic University Gombak, Malaysia is interested in studying the level of
obsession to beauty. There are 100 students from Bachelor of Allied health. The variables of
interest in this study are their level obsession to beauty. Only 92 students will be selected as
a sample.

1.2 Objective of study.

a) To determine the awareness toward the beauty obsession.


b) To study about the number of student that suffer beauty obsession based on gender.
c) To determine the opinion or thought of the respondent toward the beauty obsession.
d) To study whether society give impact to beauty obsession.
e) To determine whether the beauty obsession is affected the good thing or bad thing
among the respondent.
f) To study about the solution used for overcome beauty obsession.

2.0 METHODOLOGY

2.1 Descriptive of data

Population : All students from Bachelor of Allied health in International Islamic

University Gombak, Malaysia.

Sample : 92 students from Bachelor of Allied health in International Islamic

University Gombak, Malaysia.

Sampling Technique : Simple random sampling.

Data collection method : Direct questionnaire is being given to all student Bachelor of

Allied health in International Islamic University Gombak,

Malaysia

3.0 Findings.

3.1 Descriptive Analysis

3.1.1 Based on variables of data

Explanation: Based on the survey, 96.7% of the respondents are more aware and heard
about the beauty obsession than the 3.3% respondents that are do not aware and do not
heard about the beauty obsession.

Explanation: From the survey, it shows that discrimination in society is the highest rank in
affecting this obsession which is 42%, followed by waste of money which is 34% and the
lowest rank is the heath which is 24%.
