Study IT in Estonia Scholarship for

PhD students of Information and CommunicationTechnology


of Tallinn University of Technology

The following is based on contract number 7-1.1/1-19 signed by Tallinn University of Technology
and Information Technology Foundation for Education on March 14, 2019.
1. The scholarship is granted by the School of Information Technologies of Tallinn University of
Technology within the framework of Study IT in Estonia program.
2. All full-time students of doctoral studies in Information and Communication Technology
(hereinafter PhD students) are eligible for the scholarship.
3. The Scholarship Committee will determine the number of scholarships and the recipients. The
scholarship is awarded for twelve months (September to August). The amount of the scholarship
is stipulated by the Government of Republic regulation “Types of student scholarship, amount
and general conditions for appointment”.

4. In order to apply for the scholarship, a motivated application letter (see annex 1) together with
supervisor’s recommendation letter and a reference to CV in ETIS, should be e-mailed to ita-
stipendium@cs.ttu.ee by the 11th of October at the latest.

5. The scholarship recipients will be informed by e-mail no later than October 18th. The
Scholarship will be paid out on the last day of each month, except the amount for September,
which will be paid in October.

6. In determing the scholarship recipients, a PhD student’s contribution to teaching in the


scholarship’s period (e.g. giving lectures and supervising workshops and lab classes, preparing
and developing study materials, thesis supervision etc), the level of completion of the thesis and
the supervisor’s opinion, is taken into account. Phd students whose contribution to study related
activities is higher or/and whose thesis is more finalized, are preferred.

7. The scholarship is not paid for more than one nominal period of study.
8. If a PhD student is exmatriculated or goes on an academic leave before the date of payment of
the scholarship, the scholarship for that study month will not be paid and the scholarship will be
terminated
9. A recipient of the Study IT in Estonia scholarship is required to refer to the Study IT in Estonia
Program, in order to inform the public, in all publications and presentations related to his/her
studies. Non-communication is considered a violation of the program’s notification requirements.

Please describe, have you applied for and/or received scholarships from other programmes (e.g DoRa, ICT doctoral
school etc)?
