Procedures, Rules, and Consequences

Beginning of Class

1. For the beginning of class, all students will enter the room quietly, look at the objective

for the day to determine what materials to have out, then place their backpacks

underneath their desks. Students will then work on any bellwork in order to create an

environment for this specific class.

1.1. Attendance will be taken right after the door is closed and all students enter the

classroom.

1.2. Students that enter late will be marked as late unless they provide a signed note

from another teacher or school official providing and explanation for the tardy.

End of Class

2. At the end of every class period, students will be prompted to put way materials by the

teacher with 2 minutes left to spare in each class period. If this time is cut short a student

may raise their hand to notify the teacher. While collecting materials students may speak

to one another but if the teacher deems the noise excessive then students will be

prompted to sit silently.

2.1. Students are expected to maintain strict attention towards the class activity and

lesson material up to that point.

2.2. The bell does not dismiss the students if the teacher deems the classroom is dirty

or students are acting to unmanaged.

Moving Between Activities

3. Whenever students are moving between stations or activities in the lesson, students will

be prompted by the teacher when and where to go. Students will go to their new area and

wait for the teacher to start these groups’ time. Students will not go into their backpack

during this time in order to allow the quickest transitions across the classroom.

3.1. Each student should ensure all of their materials are being removed from the

previous activity before moving.

4. The procedures for managing student work are that all work being collected by the

teacher should have the name and date, then be passed to a single person in each group.

The teacher will then ask one person to collect all the piles and place them on the

teacher’s desk in order to keep them organized.

4.1. Students should be quiet when turning in homework because that is at the

beginning of class and it would disrupt the environment

5. The teacher will turn in all assignments to each individual facedown in order to give each

student the option to allow their peers to know their score or not.

5.1. When receiving grades students are encouraged to take a few minutes to discuss

problems on the assignment with each other.

6. The only other reasons students should be moving around the classroom are to use the

restroom with teacher permission, pencil sharpener, hole punch, etc.

Absences
7. All students that have absences will be held to the district absence policy, which is

usually one day for each day missed for excused absences. Students will be able to access

all the material for each class day at 3 o’clock every day and are expected to look the day

they are absent.

7.1. Absent students’ work will be turned into the absent work bin located in the back

of the classroom.

Graded Work

8. Late work will only be accepted one week after the initial due date of the assignment for

a 70 percent credit maximum.

8.1. Students will turn this work into a late assignments bin clearly marked and shown

to the students at the beginning of a class period.

8.2. If it is a group project each member will still be given a peer evaluation card

where they can discuss the reason or person that did not have their part

completed.

9. The grading scale is a standard A, B, C, D, or F scale. No plus or minuses in this course.

9.1. If students ever have a dispute about a grade received or entered incorrectly in the

grading program, they should bring said paper with them after class or during

lunch to discuss the reasonings or fix the discrepancy.

Parent to Teacher Communication

10. Besides parent-teacher conferences, I will communicate with parents via email for

positive and negative situations.

10.1. For a negative situation I will suggest giving me a phone call during a specified

time period in order to talk about the situation more in-depth. If no contact is

being established I will seek out the parent’s phone number and call directly if

necessary.

10.2. Positive situations shouldn’t require anything more than the initial email.
