First of all, a great writer Slauter (2015) proved changes in British and American press
over the years making clear that press has always manipulated but only ways of
manipulation changed because language changed.
Then, based on the book The Language of Newspapers (1998) written by Reah, the
author describes the language of press and proves that each newspaper has their target
audiences and they appeal to them using the appropriate language.
According to Noam Chomsky (1991), one of the classic voices of
intellectual dissent in the last decade, has compiled a list of the ten most common and
effective strategies to establish a manipulation of the population through the media.
5) Methodology

To investigate this problem, the thesis will include several news articles from
newspapers which deal with the same topic. Selected articles will be related to politics
to show different political approaches to the same topic. Articles will be taken from
the Daily Telegraph (conservative), The Guardian (Labor) and The Morning Star
(communist) newspapers in order to present divergent political positions. Then, the
thesis will include a comparison of the articles respect to 10 ways of manipulation
according to Chomsky.
