The Problem and Its Background

INTRODUCTION

The problem is a lot of people are now experiencing

or having dengue even if it is a kid or an adult. More than

10,000 cases are recorded in the capital region this year. On

the other hand, it is aggressively increasing and there is a

lack of assurance how to totally recover in a fast way when

you have a dengue virus. It is a hornet’s nest because of the

many endeavors that will not be done or passed in time or

doing it with a horrid fruit. Once they are diagnosed with

dengue, they need to skip class and wait until they are fully

recovered. At the contrary it is a problem to those families

who cannot afford letting a member with dengue to the

hospital because they are not financially stable. Lastly is

there are a lot of cases of deaths and dengue is the reason.

It should be solved by having an alternative besides with an

insect repellant or a mosquito coil. The researcher comes up

with an idea of a scented candle with the use of Basil, Mint,

and Rosemary that belongs to the Labiatae or a family of

flowering plants. Even though it is not lighted up it can be

still useful because of the scent. It should be solved because

there are a lot of people being affected if they are

experiencing this kind of sickness. The purpose of the study

is that the people can have an alternative or easy way and

organic way to somehow get rid of mosquitoes. It may also

help to freshen the room and helps everybody feeling

comfortable by breathing an organic and flavored scent. It

will somehow get rid of mosquitoes due to our ingredients

which are easy to get or find and wherein every mosquito

will not surely like it.

Background of the study

The three main variables that are going to be

used in this study are Ocimum basilicum or Basil, Mentha or

Mint, and Rosmarinus officinalis or Rosemary. The

background of the study is to showcase that there is a

possible way to lessen the casualties of dengue virus victims

 or any sickness brought by mosquitoes, also there is a

possible way to have an alternative to use in our

environment to decrease the growth of mosquitoes in our

community that we are living in.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

In order to provide an excellent customer care, our

organic scented candles include cheaper ingredients and are

easy to be found in a plant or flower shop that best works

and not harms our skin when it is touched. The organic

candles should and must have the most effective way to

protect every consumer in order to keep the consumers

trust.
 In this study the researchers are most likely to answer

this question.

1. Are Basil, Mint, and Rosemary effective scents that can

be an alternative to a mosquito repellant?

HYPOTHESIS

Ho: There is no interrelationship between the

constituents of the anti-mosquito repellent and an anti-

mosquito repellent being a preference use.

Ha: There is an eminent liaison between the

constituents of the anti-mosquito repellant and an anti-

mosquito repellant being a preference use.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The significance of this study is to perceive the potency

of Ocinum basillicum(Basil), Mentha(Mint), and Rosmarinus

officinalis(Rosemary) as an organic anti-mosquito repellent

to be varied with an item such as a scented candle.

 1. Rosemary’s small, pale-blue flowers and spiky leaves

complement your garden and make it an interesting plant.

Basil is another herb that can also double as a pest

repellent. The pungent smell the basil leaves give off are

what keep pests at bay. And since all kinds of basil work to

keep flies and mosquitoes at bay, feel free to explore and

find the right types of basil to mix into your garden. the

essential oils are extracted and used as a spray to repel

mosquitoes. It has also made an effective repellent when

grown nearby.

2.The backwashes of these herbs to humans are just

the smell of the balm that is being emanated from it feels

good.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study focusses on the benefits of the candles. To

use the scented candles as an effective way to remove

mosquitoes. This study will depend on the capacity of the

candles to kill mosquitoes and provide a smooth aroma in

your home.

This study is limited to the available results from the

experiment of creating a better way to kill mosquitoes from

the scent of the candles. This includes the materials used as

ingredients and the benefits not only in killing mosquitoes

but in keeping your home away from sickness and making it

friendly other guests.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Scented Candle- The final product of the study which the

three scents are used in this product.
