Detailed Lesson Plan in Science III

(Deductive Approach)

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, 80% of the students must be able to:
a. Identify renewable resources and nonrenewable resources,
b. Describe how living things benefit from the environment, and
c. Protect and conserve the available natural resources.

II. Subject Matter: Earth and Its Natural Resources.

Teaching devices: cartolina, print materials

III. Procedure:
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
Review:
 Last time we discussed about what?  Safe and wise use of light, heat, sound and
electricity in daily life
 Is there any question about our past  None

B.4 Presentation of the New Lesson

 Where do we find the animals?  In the environment.

 What is environment? Please read orally.  Environment is everything that makes

up the surroundings and affects the
activities of living and non living things
 All things that we see in our on earth.
surrounding are part of the
environment, including us.
 Can you give examples of living
things?
 What do we call the things in the  Human, plants and animals.
environment?
 What are natural resources?  Natural Resources.

 A natural resources is anything that

people can use which comes from
nature like land, water and air.
 How do living things benefit from the
environment?  Without water, air and land, living
things cannot exist, so they are
 Correct. Now class let us go back with dependent upon the environment.
these two groups.

 There are two groups of natural

resources.

 Can you identify the picture?

Sunlight
 Does sunlight give us unlimited supply
of light in a day?
 Very good!  Yes it does.

 What about the other picture?

 Very good!
Animals
 Can animals be replaced? How?
 Yes. It can replace through reproduction.

 Correct! This group of natural resources

was considered as renewable resources.

 What are renewable resources?

 Renewable resources are natural resources
that can be replaced or renewed within a
short period of time.
 Can you identify the picture on the board?

Petroleum and Coal

 In the first group are called renewable

 Non renewable resources
resources, how about the second group?

 Why do you think petroleum and coal is  Because it takes a long period of time to
under nonrenewable resources? replace it.

 Now class what are nonrenewable  Nonrenewable resources are natural

resources? resources that cannot be easily replaced
within a short period of time. They can
take hundreds or even million years to
form.
 Do you think the improper use of this  No. Because it takes a long period of time
nonrenewable resources good in our to replace it.
environment? Why?
B.4.1 Enrichment #1 (Expected Response)
 Now class I want you to look under your
chair. As you can see some of you have the
picture. I will call you one by one and then
you will tell what is in the picture then
identify what group of resources is that.
moon nuclear energy

water crude oil

fuel fruits

C. Summary Of the Lesson Expected Responses

 Who would like to summarize our lesson  Natural resources has two kinds the renewable
resources and the nonrenewable resources.
D. Valuing Process Expected Responses
 What are the importance of natural  Natural resources are used for our survival
resources?  Natural resources are used in our daily needs.
IV. Evaluation Technique Check up Test
 Read the direction.  Direction: Write R if the material is renewable
(key to correction) and N if nonrenewable.

1. R ___1. Stars
2. N ___2. LPG
3. N ___3. Kerosene
4. N ___4. Vegetables
5. N ___5. Tree
