Adventurers Dome is an amusement park for all the generation people who want something

exciting & unique. It offers non-stop entrainment all around the year in a dome from last one

year. Employees around 400 effectively providing entertainment that attracts 100,00 visitors.

1. How will self-awareness help you be a successful manager? And, how will you develop

it?

To be successful manger self-awareness is very essential. It requires for self-observation and

growth as well. Among all the skills required for an effective manger, self-awareness tops the

list. The manager needs to understand their strengths, weakness, personality to grow and develop

the skills for better connections with the client and employees. It helps in better decision making

and increases confidence and effectiveness.

One can develop self-awareness by being open to feedback and questions. Feedbacks from others

help to understand our actions and their impact on others. It provides a clear picture of our

strength and area of progress. Secondly, one can take online tests for a better understanding of

their personality, emotional intelligence, behavior and thinking style. Another one is to embrace

the failure; it is always better to acknowledge failure, so one defines the problem and can work

towards it. Accepting our flaws and working on it is the key for self-awareness.

2. Last week you and the management team for your company heard that trust was low.

You decided to do something about it and you did. Now the trust is stronger but you want

to make sure it continues to grow. Based on the information from your class what three

things will you do to improve communication in your company?

The key to maintaining a healthy workplace environment is precise and frequent communication

which leads to many beneficial aspects to a company. There are three major practices can be

followed to improve communication in the company are as follows

 Caring about your employees as people.

Regardless of who we are or what our occupation may be, we all experience the negative impact

stress in our personal life which can also lead to our work life. As a manager, we must know

employees have lives outside of work, that we care, and that you’re always available for a

conversation. Ask them questions on their personal daily routine life. Employees will feel valued

and more satisfied in their work, which will lead to greater productivity and an overall positive

environment.

· Offer an outlet for anonymous feedback

In general, communication is not always positive. Usually, employees are uncomfortable while

making complaints to their boss, regardless of an issue with management, an issue with a co-

worker, or any other change they would like to see in the workplace. Employees need a way to

provide there thinking process so that the company can continue to learn and grow.

· Respect cultural differences.

In this era of globalization, the world is gradually shrinking, and the workplace is likely home to

a wide variety of cultures. To create an environment where everyone feels comfortable

expressing themselves, management must be culturally sensitive. The company can organize

wide varieties of cultural function which can bring their employees together.

3. You are hiring a new person to fill a key managerial position. There isn’t an interview

schedule. Create a list of 5 attributes that you want in this new manager. Create 3 interview

questions to try to get to know the candidate better in these areas. What questions do you

think the candidate should ask you at the end of the interview?

It is essential for being a manager to have precise communication with employees as well as the

client. Management shall understand its responsibility towards the company & its people.

Following are 5 attributes mainly required for being eligible as manager

Leadership

To be an effective manager, you need to be able to lead your employees efficiently. A lot of

responsibility comes with being a manager, and being able to lead a team is a basic requirement.

Experience

If an Employee doesn’t have experience working in a professional environment and leading a

team, it will be difficult to step up as a manager. Away to gain experience in a management role

is to volunteer, either within your field or with nonprofit. Manage and produce events, whether

it’s raising money for organizing an event.

Communication

Being able to communicate with your team is required when being an effective manager. This

not only means communicating job responsibilities and expectations, it means listening to your

team and working with them to produce results within their position.

Time Management

The key factor in being a successful manager is time management. If you’re late every day, your

employees might think it’s acceptable to also be late. Time management is also important when

it comes to prioritizing your day, making sure you have time to communicate with your

employees, and accomplishing goals throughout the week.

· Confidence

To be an effective manager, you need to be confident in your abilities, experience, and decisions.

This doesn’t mean you have to be arrogant or feel that you’re better than your employees. But

you’re in a management role for a reason, so be proud and be an inspiration to your team.

The three interview questions are:

1. How do you delegate responsibilities?

2. How do you handle conflict between team members?

3. How do you measure success?

Question by Candidate: How do you go about coaching an employee who is not performing

where they need to be?

4. What will your company do to help its employees have a good life-work

balance?

Life-work balance is essential to have healthy work-environment; it helps to reduce stress and to

increase productivity. To achieve life-work balance, company can educate employees about it to

make them aware of the importance to have a balance between their work and personal life.

Allow flexible timing, this will help to manage their work and life according to their time

preference. Promoting work from home and also brining home at work by arranging family and

friends events at the workplace. Encourage employees to have a healthy lifestyle by providing

gym membership or sponsoring company sports club membership also a routine health break can

be arranged where employees can spend some time regularly on yoga or meditation. Addition to

this it important maintain employees’ mental fitness, this can be achieved by having a fun

environment and also by promoting creative tasks.

5. You have had to have a disciplinary conversation with an employee who “attacks” you

verbally and then bursts into tears. Based on information from our class what course of

action will you take to deal with this type of response?

A manager needs to handle any tough situations or conflicts effectively and efficiently.

Managing such situations in aright manner can lead to a positive outcome. Firstly there is a need

for identifying the root cause and then provide a solution for it. While handling such

conversation following steps need to be considered:

· Mirroring accountability: As a manager, I need to be aware of my actions. I cannot expect other

employees to follow, what I do not follow. So before expecting or question employees about

their actions, I need to make sure I am not imitating the same.

· Benefits of doubts: Give employees benefit of doubts. Treating them as I believe them, even if I

am not sure about it. It is better to show the trust that something is good rather than concluding

that something is bad. Always see that the action of employees might be unintentionally rather

than believing that is done intentionally.

· Transparent communication: I need to be clear about what message I need to convey my

employees, To avoid further misunderstandings.

· Appreciation of skill set: While having this conversation with the employee, firstly, I will

appreciate their work. I will take about their accomplishments first, rather than discoursing them

my only taking about their negative points.

· Incentivize change: Need to motivate to change their action by leading them with an example.·

Monitor and evaluate: I will make sure to monitor and evaluate their action after having the

communication to define the effectiveness of overall communication.

· Follow up: A follow up is essential to check how things are going and to work further to

improve on it.

6. Why is rapport important if you want to be an effective manager?

In today’s competitive business environment, it is very critical to have good team bonding and to

work effectively as a group. To be an effective manager rapport is important to understand others

feeling at the workplace as to build an efficient team. It helps to encourage team bonding by

keeping everyone engaged. It helps to know what are the motivations and drivers of motivation

for each individual. It enables to get the most out of everyone by understanding their

requirements. It also enables to earn loyalty and to keep staff motivated.

7. What is Emotional Intelligence and why is having it important as a manager?

Emotional intelligence refers to the awareness of our own emotion and ways of controlling and

expressing such emotions. It also refers to how one can handle interpersonal relationship and

also the ability to understand others emotions. As managers to be successful; it is essential to

have emotional intelligence with intellectual intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is an important

skill for decision making and problem-solving. Emotional intelligence helps to analyze things

more practically and come up with positive outcomes. Emotional intelligence plays an important

role in solving conflicts with a better understanding of other emotion. Emotional intelligence at

the workplace is required to have a better connection with clients and other employees.

8. Some of the Team Leaders that report to you have been with the organization for a very

long time. There are younger new hires and the long-term employees don’t seem to get this

“new generation”. What information do you give the team leaders to work better with Gen

Y.

It is necessary to understand that Generation Y and Generation X or Baby Boomers have

different working style; they have different requirements and expectation from the workplace. I

will advise team leaders to understand this difference and motivation Gen Y by helping them to

understand the changes in the work setting without scaring them. Provide feedback to Gen Y is

the key to their work satisfaction. Generation Y always look for feedbacks, they are eager to

know whether they are doing the task correctly or not. They cannot wait longer for feedback.

Weekly or even daily feedbacks are recommended as Generation Y always wants to keep a

check whether they are on track. Generation Y prefer flexibility, it is always advisable to provide

them flexible work timing and flexible way of working. Generation Y grew up with parents and

peers who value their opinion and gave chance to show their creativity, therefore Generation Y

motivates to have such kind of workplace where their ideas are valued and where they have

chance to show their creativity. Overall Y needs a respectful and fun environment with

opportunities to grow.
