Grade: 10 Quarter: 1 Week: 8 20/24-Oct 2019

Dear parents and students,

During the quarter students will be learning in a unit titled as (RXN). Students will be inquiring within the global context Scientific and technical innovation,
exploration: products, which will give the students the opportunity to explore the chemical reactions impacts on the human life. Through exploring and change
how chemical reactions change the identities of the chemical substance, students will study the industrial applications of reactions (synthetic rubber, Ammonia synthesis,
extractions of metals). During the unit of inquiry, students will learn more about the concept change and deepen their understanding of the models and
interactions related concept. During this unit students will inquire and investigate to answer these three questions:

- Factual Question: What is chemical change?


- Concept Question: How does interaction between models affects product formation?
- Debatable Question: Can industrial chemists always use the most optimum conditions to maximize product formation?

During this quarter, students will be continuously assessed formatively and they will have a number of summative assessments which will include the performance task at the
end of the unit. Please note that the performance task is a type of examination that needs to be completed in the classroom.

Performance Task
Goal My goal is to identify the interaction between models that may lead to changes and affect product formation.
Role A junior science reporter
Audience High school students
Situation You are a junior science reporter. You will report on how chemists use change to make useful products.

Product Create a report with the following details:


 The report must discuss and model one of following industrial applications of reactions (synthetic rubber, Ammonia synthesis,
extractions of metals)
 The report should be typed font size 12 between 1000-1200 words
 The report should have an introduction that describes the purpose of this report why you have chosen this topic?
 Explain the industrial process adopted to the chosen topic support the process with correct evidence
 Advantages and disadvantages
 Uses of the product in the UAE
 The report should be using proper in text citation with MLA
