Maricruz’s home is Oregon.

Maricruz is the daughter of an agricultural worker and a 3rd-grade bilingual education teacher in
the same school district she grew up in.

Maricruz is also one of the 27 DACA recipients who have fearlessly shared their stories in
our amicus brief to be heard by the Supreme Court on November 12.
Her story is the third video of a series of biographies, featured in our UWD stories amicus
brief. We’ve submitted these videos to the court to show them why DACA is needed - because
our #HomeIsHere.

She immigrated to the United States from Mexico at seven years old and found a home in Oregon.
She is now pursuing her Master’s so that she can continue to serve her community.

Our video series captures the journeys, struggles, and successes of United We Dream members
from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Mexico, and elsewhere who now live in Florida, Oregon, Illinois,
Maryland, California, and across the nation. So, first, we need everyone to watch Maricruz’s
powerful testament on how DACA radically changed the course of her life.
Then, we need voices from all across the country to call on the Supreme Court to do what’s right
and protect DACA recipients and all immigrant communities. Share our videos. Share our stories.

Our #HomeIsHere.
