Finishing high school study and moving forward to university is a major milestone in a person's

life. Although this new stage is, in general, to study and practice like what we did in high
school, there are still many significant differences that we have to get adapted to do well in
university. Some of them are being more flexible in arranging schedule, advanced skills
beyond textbooks that need learning actively and being provided with such various ways to
approach studies effectively.

At first, transfering from high school to university would be a huge barrier to students,
especially when they take studying style into consideration. Since university requires more
independence, there would be fewer hours of in-class time and many more hours of
homework. As a result, to make adjustment, students need to prepare themselves, be
responsible for making their own class schedules and following them conscientiously with
self-discipline.

Secondly, the changing environment between highschool and university also requires
students to study more from the outside world than before. Traditionally, high
school students are mostly taught theoretical knowledge based on certain curriculums.
However, it is of paramount importance for university students to explore beyond the
campus, to participate in extracurricular activities, part-time jobs and focus on developing
social skills as well as expanding their networkings. The reason for this is that higher
education aims to provide students with appropriate skills to enter the job market in the
future, which demands both conceptual knowledge and real-life soft skills.

Utilities are last but not least the greatest difference. While in highschool, students are not
allowed to use smartphone or personal laptop during lessons, in university, students can use
any equipment to link and expand what they are studying. In addition, university’s library are
more modern and convenient than that in highschool. It provides students with personal self-
studying zone , huge amount of studying materials and sitting rooms for group works and
comfort to spend hours doing research.

Leaving high school and entering postsecondary study is a huge change for many students
and they have to adjust themselves to adapt to that change. University environment requires
a student to modify their studying style, improve the social life and perfecting their own
personality. By doing so, the student will have the abilty to innovate their mindsets to learn
invaluable lessons and begin to unravel their own personal values and beliefs.
