1
Warranty: All bowling balls manufactured by Storm Products Inc. have a limited, one
year manufacturer’s warranty protecting the ball against manufacturing defects or
flaws such as material or workmanship. In order for a ball to be considered for
warranty, it must meet all warranty stipulations and requirements. Further, all
warranty claims must be directed to the original place of purchase in order to verify
both the integrity of the ball, the original purchase date, and the validity of the claim.

Process: All warranty claims must by returned to the place of original purchase; this
includes all Pro Shops or Internet Purchases. The retailer may then contact their
Distributor for further instructions or follow-up.

Questions: If, at any point during the warranty process, a ball’s warranty status is
deemed questionable by the original Retailer or Distributor, it is the responsibility of
the acting claimant to contact their Storm Regional Sales Manager or Storm Products
Inc. Representative for clarification.

2
Acceptable: The crack is isolated to the bridge and the bridge meets the ¼” width, ¾”
lateral pitch, and non-intersection requirement, therefore the ball would still be
covered under warranty.

Not Acceptable: Ball would not be covered by warranty because the lateral pitches
are not equal to or greater than ¾” and the holes intersect at the bottom. Reason: a
bridge that is not thick enough and/or has holes that intersect at the bottom lacks the
ability to absorb and distribute the normal impact energy encountered during normal
usage. The result is a known weak spot, prone to cracking and would not be covered
by warranty.

3
Acceptable: Balance hole has been sufficiently beveled at the point of origin for the
crack and would therefore be covered by warranty.

Not Acceptable: In the example ball, the fingers have began to crack and micro-
fractures have started to form as a direct result of the lack of bevel. Reason: without
bevel, the impact energy from random collisions encountered during normal play
cannot be absorbed or distributed; the result is cracking, chipping, stress fractures, or
complete cover stock failure at the location of impact. Hence, a ball lacking sufficient
bevel will not be covered by warranty.

Tip: Storm highly recommends additional beveling after every resurface or the
installation of new grips.

4
Acceptable: Pin distance to nearest hole is greater than 1” and meets all other
requirements; therefore the ball is covered warranty.

Not Acceptable: Pin distance to nearest hole is less than ½” voiding the warranty.

Exception: If the pin distance to the nearest hole is greater than ½” but less than 1”, A
Regional Sales Manager or Storm Representative may authorize the warranty so long
as the ball meets all other warranty requirements. Any ball in this category without
prior authorization will be denied.

Tip: If the distance of the Pin is less than ½”, either move the Pin further from the
nearest hole to meet the ½” requirement, or completely drill the Pin out. A ball
where the Pin has been completely drilled out is still eligible for Warranty.

5
Acceptable: Even though finger inserts have been installed, the ball meets all other
requirements including pin distance, bridge width, cumulative lateral pitch, bevel and
the holes do not intersect; therefore, the ball would be considered a valid warranty
claim.

Not Acceptable: Reason: thumb slug bound during installation due to bit wobble,
undersized drill bit, over-sized thumb slug, or excessive glue; the slug was then forced
into position using excessive pressure cracking the cover stock. Improper installation,
as shown above, voids warranty.

Exception: Storm Products Inc. reserves the right to deny any warranty claim in which
finger inserts, thumb slugs, or interchangeable thumbs have been installed; however,
in cases where the installation was not the direct or indirect cause of the failure AND
the ball meets all other warranty requirements, the warranty claim would be
considered valid.

Tip: Thumb slugs install easier and have a lower chance of failure during installation
and during normal usage if the original hole is beveled.

6
Voids Warranty: Ball plug voids all warranty claims; since ball plug is extremely
exothermic, it is highly susceptible to rapid expansion or contraction during the curing
process greatly weakening the structural integrity of the ball. Further, ball plug that
has aged, was not properly mixed, prepared, or poured with the correct ratio is highly
prone to cracking and chipping; this has the effect of further weakening the cover
stock and is therefore not acceptable under warranty.

Exception: Special consideration will be made if and only if the ball was plugged to
make pitch or span adjustment AND the crack does not intersect the plug at any
point. Please call or contact your Regional Sales Manager for approval before
submitting a ball with ANY plug.

7
Voids Warranty: Damage that is a direct or indirect result of lane damage is not
covered by warranty. This includes, but is not limited to cracking, fractures, breaks,
gouges, scratches, cuts, cosmetic damage or otherwise.

8
Voids Warranty: Exposure to temperatures above 140 degrees Fahrenheit or below
40 degrees Fahrenheit voids the warranty. Reason: temperature fluctuations above or
below the critical points causes rapid expansion and contraction of the cover stock,
core, and weight block; since all three are made of differing materials, the rate in
which they expand or contract varies creating pressure while simultaneously breaking
the bonds between the three greatly weakening the structural integrity of the ball
thereby voiding the warranty. Further, “baking” a ball to de-oil it can cause
intermolecular failure in the cover stock resulting in buckling as shown above.

Tip: To safely remove oil from a ball without weakening the structural integrity, soak
the ball in hot water between 110˚ - 125˚ degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the ball to soak
for 20 – 30 minutes before removing using a towel to remove any oil that has
appeared on the surface. This process may be repeated multiple times until all visible
signs of oil have been removed. Fresh hot water may be added occasionally to keep
the water temperature in the ideal range as listed above.

9
Voids Warranty: Any form of abuse voids the warranty. Common forms of abuse
include the intentional throwing, slamming, or bouncing of a bowling ball;
intentionally breaking the ball by smashing it against concrete, hitting it with a
hammer, a chisel, or otherwise have all been identified as Abuse thereby voiding the
Warranty.
