Please only use the USB update method when there is no Internet connection available or the Internet
update method does not work for you.
You will need an empty FAT16 or FAT32 formatted USB stick with at least 2GB capacity.
Please download the latest firmware archive from the Denon firmware download page:
AVRX4000E2_USB_XXX.zip where XXX is the number of the firmware package. Unzip the contents
(incl. all folders and subfolders) to the USB stick. The USB stick should have following directory
structure:
\firmwares\000100660200\...
Please note that after USB update an initialization of the microprocessor may be necessary. This will
result in all settings being erased and the unit may need reconfigured/recalibrated. We recommend
taking note of your settings before updating.
2. Insert the USB flash drive into the front USB input
3. While pressing the "STATUS" button and the "OPTION" button at the same time, power on the
unit. "USB Update Start" appears in the FL Display.
4. Press the "DIMMER" button on the unit for at least 5 seconds. "UpdateFileCheck" appears in the FL
Display and the Update of the Firmware starts.
5. During the update, the power indicator illuminates red and the GUI screen display disappears. The
remaining update time appears in the display of the main unit. When the update is completed,
"Updating Complete" appears in the FL Display and then the unit returns to the normal state.
In the case that you notice strange behavior after the update, please initialize the unit. Note that all
settings will be erased after the reset. Note down the settings before updating, and set them
again after updating.( Delete all this in bold as it is already mentioned above )
Please then carry out a reinitialization of the unit as per the instructions below:
2. While pressing the "INFO" button and the "BACK" button at the same time, power on this unit.
All segments in the FL display are blinking.
